Sierra Pacific Synod Resource Center

What's New at the Resource Center?

Hello, I am Janet Lane, your new Synod Resource Center Director. I want to acknowledge and thank Margie Back and Dee Wright for keeping the center active during the long search process for a new director. They left the center in great shape!

I am so thankful to be here. What a joy to be able to be a part of the present and future of this great resource to the congregations of the Sierra Pacific Synod and beyond! I look forward to working with you to find quality resources for use in your congregational and personal lives.

Please explore our Resource Center website and search by subject, author, or title.  Or send an email to me rspselca@pacbell.net and I will be happy to search resources for you. My office hours for June are below, I am also available at other times by appointment. Send me an email any time you are looking for a resource, I am well connected via email.

Congratulations to Pastor Jean Lebbert and her sister, Janet Venerella
on their new book, A Positive Approach: Freeing the Ten Commandments from Negative Language. This resource is now available for you at your Resource Center. Here is a brief example: "The fifth and sixth commandments state, "Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery."" The POSITIVE APPROACH, offered by Lebbert and Venerella states it this way,"The strength of all relationships is affected by choices. Choose wisely."

We also have 2 new videos in the Center.  Both will bring forth some great conversations.
Rick Steve's The Holy Land, Israelis and Palestinians Today gives you the opportunity to travel with Rick through the Holy Land, weaving together both the Israeli and Palestinian narratives.
The second new video is The Gates of Jerusalem: A History of the Holy City narrated by Richard Kiley. You will discover the mystery and prophecy behind the 8 gates of Jerusalem and learn how these gates have deep meaning for Christians, Muslims and Jews.

Just arrived: Altar Guild and Sacristy Handbook, by S. Anita Stauffer
We now have the 4th edition of this book that has been used by hundreds of churches since 1970. In these pages you will find practical and expanded information on caring for the worship space and furnishings, preparing for sacraments and occasional services, and a thorough overview of the church year. You will be invited to approach your role as a ministry to the whole assembly in God's service.
