THE RECENT TECH WORKSHOP SPONSORED BY THE CONGREGATIONAL
LIFE DISCIPLING TEAM PROVED TO BE A
GREAT RESOURCE!
This workshop held at St. Paul, Lodi, offered some extremely helpful information regarding technology and the church. We heard first-hand the purpose of, and how congregations are using, websites and social media, how a singular congregational mailing list can be accessed in multiple ways to serve the needs of segments of the whole (thus saving upkeep on more than one list), and we were introduced to numerous online daily devotional sites currently available. If you missed this event, and are working to upgrade your congregational technology, you might want to contact that Discipling Team chair, Kathye Hamm, with questions for her or for any of the excellent presenters that day.
The Resource Center has copies of these for your use:
"40 days & 40 bytes - making computers work for your congregation" - Alban Institute
"Computers, Kids and Christian Education" - MacQueen
and
"Social Media Guide for Ministry: What it is & How to use it" - Nils Smith
(This last resource was highly recommended by a presenter, and the recommendation was affirmed by workshop attendees.)

ARE YOU CONSIDERING A RETREAT THIS SPRING?
Once you have your speaker, and your venue, and a program schedule .... maybe it is time to look at the "fun stuff" around the edges.
"Grow With Bingo" is a Bible Bingo game, fun for all ages. Descriptions help players find "T" for tithe, "O" for forgiving our brother 70x7, "N" for cross.
This game will provide fun, laughter, and even learning.
"Bible Trivia" is a game for teams, fun for all ages.
"Throw & Tell" Ball
Keep the laughter going: Toss the ball, call "stop," and have the catcher answer the icebreaker question where his/her right thumb is on the ball. We have "Conversation Starters," "Crowdbreakers," etc.
Do you need some musical table prayers?

New at the Resource Center!
Discover Islam: Six-dvd special edition - "Films like these are needed to help bridge the divide between the Muslim world and America" - Islamic Society of North America.
There are over a billion and a half people across the globe that claim to be followers of Islam. Yet few people outside the faith truly understand Muslim beliefs, practices and values. There is great misinformation about issues ranging from Jihad to women's rights. These films aim to remedy this situation.
"Preaching at the Crossroads"
"how the world -- and our preaching -- is changing" by David J. Lose
Postmodernism. Secularism. Pluralism. These words capture the tumultuous changes that have affected our culture and our churches. But what challenges and opportunities do they provide today's preachers? In this book, Lose offers lucid analysis of our culture and concrete suggestions for reclaiming a dynamic witness in the twenty-first century.
