VadaTech's 3rd Gen MCH: The Game Changer

VadaTech's 3rd generation MicroTCA Carrier Hub (MCH) has several unique features that will transform the capability of a MicroTCA-based solution.  The UTC004 has a 40GbE option, a boost in performance from today's 10GbE and GbE solutions.  The MCH also provides PCIe Gen 3, SRIO Gen 2, and a crossbar switch (CBS) option.  The CBS allows any fabric to be utilized including custom solutions.

A key feature of the UTC004 is the advanced clocking/synchronization capability.  For applications tuned to a GPS, the MCH has an on-board Digital Phased Locked Loop (DPLL) aligning our clock to the timing and any speed/frequency of the signal.  The clock synthesis/jitter cleaning capability can be utilized to convert the frequency into any one desired while still remaining locked to the GPS atomic clocks.  Alternatively, the unit can provide both Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE1588 to align the frequency and get the exact time of the system.  The unit is able to act as the Grand Master Clock for an entire network.   These features are important for Communications, MIL/Aero, and Physics applications where synchronized timing is critical, whether from a GPS or from a Precision Timed Protocol (PTP).

MicroTCA Chosen in Naval Application
A prime military contractor has chosen MicroTCA over OpenVPX for its naval computing application.  The company was looking for a rugged front-to-rear cooled rackmount design with capability for a multi-gigabit backplane data transfer and failover options.

VadaTech develop a 1U solution that would provide vibration and shock resistance in an isolated rack.
