Your New Early Voting Location

Late last year, I sat down with Lake County Clerk Willard Helander and her staff to talk about Early Voting location changes for our district.

Due to the implications of a new state law, some Early Voting locations in Lake County are being consolidated starting in 2014 - beginning with the March 18th Primary Election.

Working with Clerk Helander, I was able to keep my residents voting within our county district - initially you would have been forced to travel farther than I felt appropriate to cast your ballot early.

Please be aware of this Early Voting Location & Voter Info:

Cuba & Wauconda Township voters will now vote at:
LAKE BARRINGTON VILLAGE HALL
23860 Old Barrington Road (off of Kelsey Road)
Lake Barrington, IL 60010

Key Voting Info:
  • First Day to Request "Vote by Mail": February 6, 2014. Visit the Voter Power Website and complete the form to sign up.
  • Last Day to Register to Vote for March Primary: February 18, 2014. Registration can occur at your Township Office.
  • Early Voting Begins on March 3, 2014.
17 Year Olds Can Vote

Voting should never be passed up and this March, for the first time, 17 year olds will be able to exercise their voice at the ballot box.

The State of Illinois has changed the voting law to allow 17 year olds to vote in the March Primary Election if they will be 18 by the November General Election.

Young people you know can register to vote through February 18, 2014 at your local township office (find your township's link on the left).
Miller Road Update

I have received hundreds of comments on the successful completion of Miller Road since it reopened late last year. I am very pleased that the project came in on time and under budget, but the road is a bit bumpy right now due to the extreme temperatures we encountered just after the road was completed.

The Lake County Division of Transportation and I are going to take steps to level out these unacceptable bumps soon. Thanks for your patience.

Forest Preserves News

100-year Strategic Vision Approved

At this month's Forest Preserve District Board Meeting, we adopted a new long-term strategic plan for the Lake County Forest Preserve District.

The process began last year - bringing together Forest Preserve Commissioners, community stakeholders, concerned conservationists and Lake County business owners to craft ideas for the future.

The process has culminated with the Forest Preserve District approving a guiding vision that will lead Lake County to a more healthy and resilient landscape with restored and preserved natural lands, waters, and cultural assets 100 years from now.  Our Board goal is that residents will continue to take great pride in how our Lake County Forest Preserves make our communities more livable and the local economy more dynamic.
