Synopsis
Jesus Olivares from the Department of Labor, Phoenix Office, will offer helpful information to employers regarding wage and hour issues that trigger an investigation, as well as the remedies that may follow an audit. Specific topics will include: exempt/non exempt employees, complying with overtime, "Comp Time" and guidance in correctly utilizing Independent Contractors. Mr. Olivares will take your questions to help ensure that your company is fully compliant with wage and hour compliance.
Speaker Bio:
Jesús A. Olivares currently serves as Community Outreach Specialist for the Phoenix District Office of the Wage and Hour Division. This agency is part of the United States Department of Labor and is responsible for enforcing a number of federal laws that set basic labor standards, including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Jesús is a former Wage and Hour Investigator who has worked with a diverse group of employers, employees, trade associations, attorneys, human resources professionals, advocacy groups, and stakeholders in Arizona. |
