Prayer at July 6 Session of the SC House of Representatives

Dean Timothy Jones was invited to give the opening prayer for Monday's session of the South Carolina House of Representatives. See below for a portion of the prayer, followed by a link to the entire text.

Lord, you have said through the prophet Isaiah that heaven is your throne and the earth is your footstool.  Your glory is in all of the world, and your presence in every place.

Help us to remember that while you are majestic and immense, you draw close to those who seek you.

Help us to remember that while these are momentous times in which we live, you work in the little moments, the sometimes tedious hours. Read full prayer here.

Summertime!

The song says the "hazy, lazy days of summer!" Many of our parishioners are enjoying the Famously Hot summer of Columbia, or one of our great beaches or the cooler nearby mountains.  Summer is a time to slow down and refresh, but the expenses of our parish don't take a vacation!  Every day we need $8,000 to pay for the operations of the Cathedral.  Our wonderful staff likes to get paid regularly, just like you and me!

As we enjoy this summertime, let's remember to honor the blessings God has given us by continuing our financial support for His work in this parish.
