Harrell Farewell Reception

In Main Foyer Between Services
Join us for a Farewell Reception for Pastor Randall and Amber Harrell between services on Sunday, October 2nd, in the Main Foyer. Pastor Randall and Amber have accepted a call as Senior Pastor at Hill Country Church of the Nazarene outside of Austin, Texas. October 2nd will be their last day with us.
star A Cookie and Punch Reception will be held in their honor in the Main Foyer between services. Please take a few moments to express your gratitude and extend best wishes to them. Your expressions of gratitude and love will be among their treasured memories of friendships made while in Hutchinson. You can mail greeting or gift cards to them at their current address, 1300 W 24th, in Hutchinson, or you may drop them in the designated basket in the Main Foyer on Sunday, October 2nd. Our prayers go with them as they begin this new chapter of ministry.

Tuesday Mornings: 
Victory in Spiritual Warfare: Outfitting Yourself for the Battle by Tony Evans will begin Tuesday, September 27th at 9:00 am in the Fireside Room. Florence Schneider will be facilitating this 8-week study. Tuesday Afternoons: Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver will begin Tuesday, September 27th at 1:30 pm at the home of Janet Singleton, 1609 B Aurora Drive. This 10-session study teaches how all of us can draw closer to our Lord, deepening our devotion, strengthening our service, and doing both with less stress and greater joy. Cost for materials is $15. Thursday Evenings: Heroes of the Faith by David Jeremiah will begin Thursday, September 29th at 7:00 pm in Room 309. Discover the list of God's heroes and learn why they were chosen. Hebrews 11 is the only place you'll find God's list. Each person in God's Hall of Fame was chosen for only one reason: They possessed great faith. For more information contact Jan Clark.

Launching HOPE
Wednesdays at 6:30 pm 
Beginning Next Wednesday, September 28th
Hope gives you everything you need to start taking back control over parenting your teenager today. Focusing on the natural anxiety that occurs in both teens and their parents during the middle/high school years, Launching Hope offers a new path forward - a path toward preparing your teens for adulthood and launching them into a productive life of their own.
 Launching Hope: Dr. Mark Glover will facilitate this 7 week class that begins next Wednesday, September 28th at 6:30 pm in Room 106. Cost for materials is $12 per couple. Register here for this class.

It's Not Too Late to Join a Life Group!
Groups begin October 2nd
Register now for a Life Group by filling out the Life Group card and dropping it in the offering plate or by contacting Pastor Nate Brinar. Groups will be forming for Singles, Young Married, Married with kids, Married with teens, Empty Nesters and Others. Life Groups are a great way to grow closer to Jesus and others in the body of Christ. Sign up today and get plugged into a group of people you can "do life with." Children's Ministry
star  Children's Mission Retreat
Friday - Saturday, October 7th - 8th

3rd - 5th Graders
All kids in 3rd - 5th grades are invited to participate in the trip of a lifetime!! During our Mission Retreat we will enjoy late night snacks and play Scripture Spy while we fly to "Africa". MissionRetreatKids, don't forget to bring your sleeping bag, pillow, roll of quarters, Bible, and comfortable traveling clothes. A permission slip is required and may be downloaded here.
Parents...there are opportunities for involvement during the Missions Retreat. Consider one of these ways you can help:
- 2 people to help coordinate snacks for the plane
- Adults to help chaperone kids to the airport, pilot the plane, serve as custom guards and ticket agents.
- Adults to spend the night with us in Africa (aka HFN).

star  Trunk or Treat
Sunday, October 30th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Join us for our family fun tradition - Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 30th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm outside the church facility. 
Trunk or Treat is a safe, fun Halloween alternative held in the parking lot at HFN. It's the perfect event for families to enjoy together, with something for all ages. Kids can visit trunks decorated in exciting themes to "trunk or treat" for candy, enjoy fun games, bounce in inflatables, munch on hot dogs and treats, and make new friends. It's a safe, non-scary night for families with children up to fifth grade so come join us! All activities are free. $1 donation for meal. (Costumes are encouraged, but nothing scary please!)
  Donations & Help Needed: Volunteers are needed to decorate their trunk/vehicle, help volunteer with an event (inflatables, etc.), help with food, donate various items including much candy, help with crowd control, give financially, help anywhere needed.  Candy Donations: MUCH candy will be needed for this fun community outreach! Help us provide treats for every child that attends! Last year our guests numbered well over 1000 and we are expecting that many again this year. Please bring contributions of individually wrapped candy to the designated locations in either foyer area beginning Wednesday, September 21st.

Kansas District Work & Witness Trip
Honduras February 13-27, 2017
In 2012, Pastor Christian Juarez began a successful soccer ministry which pulled kids off the streets, out of gangs and gave them a new start, a new family and a new life. Soccer ministries are spreading across Honduras and the church is growing. Join us as we travel to La Esperanz a Puerto Cortes, Honduras, partnering with the local Nazarene church to build a soccer field and help reach the lost for Christ.
star Cost: Approximately $1900 per person  (includes $200 refundable deposit) Includes airfare, room and board, insurance, and in-country travel.  It covers everything but personal expenses.

2016 Enchilada Fundraiser
Deadline to Turn in Orders/Money Has Been Extended to this Coming Sunday, 9/25
Production Day has been scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd. Every student that sells enchiladas must be present for Production Day. If a student has a prior commitment, a parent can come in their place. Don't let your student miss the opportunity to raise money for Lock-In, Winter Retreat, Xtreme/Max, Mission Trip, etc...!

Costume Crossfire Zone Event

Extreme Crossfire Paintball, 5 N Mohawk Road in Hutchinson, will be the site for the Hutchinson Zone Student Ministry Event on Sunday, October 2nd. This event is for all middle and high school students.

star An award will be given for the best costume.

Students from all across the Kansas District will meet at Wichita First Church for a time of worship and a challenging message from God's Word. Then throughout the night move around the city of Wichita stopping at several venues to have some great fun. Venues include the Heskit Center @ WSUThe Alley, and the Wichita Ice Center.

Ski and snow board in beautiful Granby, Colorado on the next Winter Retreat! 20 spots are open for students on a first come- first serve basis (secured by deposit).
star Cost to ski is $330, to board will be $350, and to spectate will be $225 (cost is all-inclusive). Payments are due October 30th, December 4th, & January 1st.

HSM "Live Your Faith" Challenge
Over the course of the fall semester High Schoolers can earn points by attending Wednesday & Sunday Services, Sunday Morning Small Groups, bringing friends, serving in different ministries in the church, and getting "Caught in the Act" of being Christ-like. Click here for a flyer with all of the details. The student who accumulates the most points will be given the choice between a 16 gb iPad Mini, Beats Headphones, or a 2017 Winter Retreat Full Scholarship. Please encourage your student to "Live Out" their faith and be a part. Also, please remind your student to make sure they are turning in their activity each week as that is how they will receive credit.

11th Annual Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County is hosting a free community screening of the documentary "Being Mortal" on Friday, October 14th. Inspirational Speaker and survivor, Jared Estes will also be sharing his true story of tragedy and triumph. This session will be held at the Trade Center Conference Room, 1600 N Lorraine, beginning at 1:30 pm. This program is free and registration by October 10th is encouraged.
