  those recovering from the 8.3 magnitude earthquake that struck the city of Santiago, Chile on September 16.

  the tide of refugees entering Europe through Croatia, the volunteers helping, and for new volunteers to come alongside.

Basketball & Cheer 2015-16

Tomorrow, October 1st
The 2015-16 Upward Basketball & Cheer season for Kindergarten through 6th grade, is soon to begin!   
star Evaluations will take place on Tuesday, November 3rd & Thursday, November 5th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm in the Lewis Family Life Center.
star  Practices start Tuesday, December 8th & Thursday, December 10th. Practices will be every Tuesday or Thursday for the length of the season.
star Games begin Saturday, January 9, 2016 in the Lewis Family Life Center.
star Volunteers are needed for a number of areas. Former coaches, parents, and any interested persons are welcome to contact Jade Marcum or Renae Kennedy to volunteer.

Missions Retreat

There's still time to register for the Children's Missions Retreat taking place here at HFN this Friday night and Saturday morning. Join us beginning at 6:30 in the Theatre. A fun and full evening is planned as we fly to "Africa". Don't forget to bring your sleeping bag, pillow, roll of quarters, Bible, comfortable traveling clothes and permission slip (download here or available at Theatre door).
 Parents...opportunities for your involvement include:
- 2 people to help coordinate snacks for the plane
- 8 more adults to help chaperone kids to the airport, pilot the plane, serve as custom guards and ticket agents.
- 2 ladies and 1 man to spend the night with us in Africa (aka HFN).

Join us for a new family fun tradition... Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 25th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm outside the facility. Inflatables, hayride, food, fun & 100 car trunks full of candy. 
Help Needed: Volunteers are needed to bring candy, decorate their trunk to distribute candy, and serve as hospitality hosts (registration/greeters/ parking lot attendants). Contact Pastor Mark Hall if you are available to help.
We are accepting contributions of individually wrapped candy. Designated tubs will be available at each entrance beginning this coming Sunday, October 4th.

Thursday Night Ladies Bible Study 
Living By The Book Video Series 
by Dr. Howard & Bill Hendricks
Begins Thursday, October 8th
For every person who draws strength and direction from the Bible, there are many more who struggle with it. Living by the Book will remove the barriers that keep Scripture from transforming your life. In a simple, step-by-step fashion, Howard & Bill Hendricks explain how to glean truth from Scripture in a practical, readable, and applicable way. 
star This seven session video study will give you helpful, hands-on principles to become a person who lives by The Book. This series will begin Thursday, October 8th, in Room 309 at 7:00 pm. Cost: $10 per book. For more information please contact  Jan Clark.
2015 Missions Gala 
Family Friendly Events Planned for Saturday, October 17th
star The Amazing Race 5K Run/Walk 
Highlands Golf Club at 10:30 am
The Amazing Race 5K Run/Walk kicks off the Missions Gala festivities at 10:30 am on Saturday October 17th. All proceeds from the race will go toward purchasing JESUS Film Harvest Partners Backpacks. Our hope is to be able to purchase 2 backpacks, which will contain all the equipment needed to show the JESUS Film in remote locations, even in the absence of power sources. Each pack costs $4,000. Serious runners and casual walkers alike will enjoy the beautiful scenery at the Highlands Golf Club. Register for the race here
 Following the race, all are welcome to join us for lunch at the East Entrance around noon. The Gala will be serving grilled hamburgers, salads, sides, drinks and dessert. Cost is $3 per plate.
Dr. Fletcher Tink, Missionary, and director of the PhD program in Transformational Development at our seminary in Manila, will be sharing following lunch. You will find Dr. Tink a passionate and compelling speaker as he shares from his worldwide travels.
The afternoon will conclude with the Global Gala Game Show in the Lewis Family Life Center. There is sure to be lots of fun and interesting information all rolled into one fun Jeopardy-style game show with participants from across the Kansas district.
star  Faith Promise Sunday

Faith Promise is a faith offering given over and above a tithe. It is a one year commitment beginning October 2015 through October 2016. Our guest speaker for Faith Promise Sunday is Dr. Fletcher Tink. Dr Tink is a student of the Word, world traveler, and church planter. His wide and varied life experiences have led him to places where he has influenced many for the Kingdom of God. He will be sharing during both morning services on October 18th.
This year's goal is $60,000. We will be receiving our Faith Promise commitments during both services on Sunday, October 18th. Won't you begin praying now what God would have you do?

The next Connect Class will begin Sunday, October 18th. This class is for anyone interested in Nazarene beliefs and history, and covers how the Church of the Nazarene started, how it works, what it believes, and what that means for our local church. This class will meet for 6 weeks.

Bill and Pam serve in their local church and various community boards. Pam graduated as a physical education major, mentors and teaches women's Bible studies, and is a commissioned Centurion through Prison Fellowship. Bill and Pam are the parents of 12 children and 16 grandchildren.

Parents of 8th Graders Night Out

6:00 pm at Olive Garden Restaurant 
All parents of 7th graders are invited to join us for dinner at Olive Garden Restaurant, 1700 East 17th St., at 6:00 pm on Sunday evening, October 11th. Following our meal we'll meet at Pastor Josh & Stacy Moore's home, 305 Crescent St., for coffee and fellowship time. Each couple/individual will be responsible for the cost of their own meal, however, dessert & coffee will be provided. If you can make it, please contact Pastor Josh via email, text, or Facebook.
The Amazing Race 5K Run/Walk

In an effort to raise funds to share the Gospel in other countries via the JESUS Film, HFN is sponsoring The Amazing Race. The 5K Run/Walk will take place at the Highland Golf Club on Saturday, October 17th, beginning at 10:30 am. All TGC students and families are invited to participate. Sign up at the East Entrance. Cost is $20 per person, and students may use funds from their Student Account to pay for the race. If you have questions, please contact Pastor Josh.

Registration Cards for Lock In are available at the check-in table in the East Foyer. Cost per student is $40. Students planning to pay with their account can simply note that on the card. Those paying with cash or check need to submit their payment along with their Registration Card. Students are welcomed and encouraged to invite and bring friends. Laundry Love: The next Laundry Love ministry opportunity is Tuesday, October 6th at Giant Laundry, 430 N Adams Street, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. If you would like to contribute toward this ministry you may bring Liquid Laundry Soap and Dryer Sheets to the Welcome Center at your convenience. Quarters may be left at the Garden Foyer Welcome Center each Sunday or brought to the Church Office during the week.

New & Improved Praise 'N Prayer Service: Praise 'N Prayer has a new format for the Wednesday evening 6:30 service. Our pastors, members of the congregation and Pastor Bones will be taking turns leading each week's service. Praise 'N Prayer meets in Room 102 each Wednesday at 6:30 pm. This coming Wednesday, October 7th, Pastor Kent will be sharing. We encourage all church families to attend. You'll be so glad you did!

Congratulations to Pastor Chris and Kristin Gilmore on the birth of their daughter, Lea Nicole, on September 29th. At birth Lea weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces. She is lovingly adored by all, especially big sister, Maggie, and big brother, Judah.

Your prayers are appreciated for the Jeff Sisler family. Jeff passed away late Tuesday night, September 29th. Funeral services have been scheduled for this Saturday, October 3rd, at 1:00 pm here at HFN. Cards of condolence may be sent to Sheryl at 1200 E 11th  Lot D12, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.

Every dollar helps fulfill their purpose to glorify Jesus Christ as Lord by preparing adults to evangelize, disciple and minister to the world.

Support Group for Foster and Adoptive Moms meets every 2nd Saturday of the month at Crossroads Christian Church, 4310 N Monroe, from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.
