Dear one,
Today is special for us because our daughter, Rebecca, is visiting from Dallas! This is the daughter who brings an atmosphere of "let's brainstorm about what really matters". We so love our deep conversations with her. At the same time, she is a "let's get the job done" kinda person. If there is a task to accomplish, Becs will be front and center to give ideas on how to do it in the most efficient way and she is always willing to put in sweat equity. Amy loves when Becca comes to visit because there is guaranteed to be late night viewings of episodes of old childhood tv shows and lots and lots of game playing for the two of them. We haven't see our Becca since January so these few days we get to spend with her are precious.

A Simple Tip to a Calmer Kid: Get Messy
Julie Meekins
Do you let your kids get messy? Do you let them do things like finger painting with non-toxic paint or shaving cream, playing in mud, sloshing around in puddles, or helping you bake? Every experience your child has is input into the brain for development. We once heard a mom say, "I don't let my kids play with play dough, it is too messy." When a child can manipulate different substances with varying shapes, textures, temperatures and smells, new pathways are opening in the brain and new connections have opportunity to be made. This is all necessary for healthy development.
Believe it or not, letting kids get messy (with good supervision, of course) is a tip to a calmer kid.
