Unemployment rate one of the lowest

The unemployment rate in the Pittsburgh region continues to be one of the lowest compared with its benchmark peers. With a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in June of 6.8 percent, Pittsburgh is lower than the benchmark average of 7.2 percent. Pittsburgh's unemployment rate decreased year-over-year by 0.4 percent and was slightly lower than the rate in May 2013 (6.9 percent).

The number of unemployed in the Pittsburgh region decreased by 4.7 percent in June 2013 compared to June 2012. The number of employed increased year-over-year by 1.3 percent as did the total labor force by 0.9 percent.
