Unemployment rate down slightly

The Pittsburgh region's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in May was 6.9 percent, which was slightly lower than the rate in April 2013 (7.1 percent). Pittsburgh's unemployment rate decreased year-over-year by 0.2 percent and was below the May 2013 benchmark average of 7.2 percent.



The number of unemployed in the Pittsburgh MSA decreased by 2.9 percent in May 2013 compared to May 2012. The number of employed increased year-over-year by 0.9 percent as did the total labor force by 0.6 percent.
