Average weekly wages increase by 3.5 % |
Dear Friend,
Although Pittsburgh has trailed benchmark regions in average weekly wages for many years, that gap is narrowing. Average weekly wages increased by 3.2 percent between 2009 and 2010, outpacing most benchmark regions. Between 2010 and 2011, average weekly wages increased another 3.6 percent. The latest annual figures show an increase of 3.5 percent between 2011 to 2012, the second largest increase year-over-year behind Cincinnati.
The average annual pay in the Pittsburgh region in 2012 was $48,701, an increase of 3.5 over 2011. This places Pittsburgh below the benchmark average of $51,697.
In the 22-county Pittsburgh region, Greene County had the highest average weekly wages with an increase of 4.5 percent year-over-year, followed closely by a 3.7 percent increase in Allegheny County. Greene County ($54,362) also had the highest average annual pay in 2012, followed closely by Allegheny County ($53,000).
