February 2013 seasonally adjusted unemployment rate 7.4%

Dear Friend,

While the Pittsburgh MSA's February seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dipped to 7.4 percent from 7.5 percent in January, it is considerably higher than it was in February of 2012, when it stood at 6.8 percent. The number of unemployed people in the Pittsburgh MSA increased by 11.6 percent in February 2013 compared to February 2012. The number of employed also increased year-over-year as did the total labor force.

Average weekly wages in the Pittsburgh region in the 3rd quarter of 2012 were the same as those in the 3rd quarter of 2011. Greene County had the highest average weekly wages in the region in the third quarter of 2012, followed closely by Allegheny County.
