The total nonfarm job figure for December 2012 in the Pittsburgh region was 1,176,500 and the year-over-year growth rate was 0.6 percent, which was below the benchmark average of 1.4 percent. However, over the five-year period from December 2007 to December 2012, the Pittsburgh region gained 19,800 nonfarm jobs. These figures show that the region is performing comparatively stronger than all of our benchmark regions. Pittsburgh's job growth rate over the past five years was 1.7 percent.
