Pittsburgh experiencing continued job growth

The total nonfarm job figure for November 2012 in the Pittsburgh region was 1,179,600, and the year-over-year job growth rate was 0.7 percent, which was below the benchmark average of 1.3 percent. Denver had the highest year-over-year job growth rate at 2.7 percent.

However, over the five-year period from November 2007 to November 2012, the Pittsburgh region gained 19,900 nonfarm jobs. These figures show that the region is performing comparatively stronger than all of our benchmark regions. Pittsburgh's job growth rate over the past five years was 1.7 percent.
