Housing is appreciating and bankruptcy fillings are declining

Dear Friend,

The Denver region led all other regions in the most recent 12-month period with a housing appreciation rate of 2.9 percent; Pittsburgh ranked second at 1.1 percent. Pittsburgh's five-year appreciation rate, however, was 5.8 percent; all other regions had negative 5-year rates.

Bankruptcy filings declined in the third quarter of 2012 compared to the same quarter last year. The total filings nationwide declined by over 14 percent, with Pittsburgh experiencing a year-to-year percent change of 17.87 percent.
