School enrollment and graduation rates

Dear Friend,

We have recently updated PittsburghTODAY with school enrollment and high school graduation rates. After leveling off for a few years, public school enrollment in the City of Pittsburgh declined again in 2011. In addition, total public school enrollment for Allegheny County as a whole and most of the counties in the Pittsburgh region has continued to trend downward.

High school graduation rates for 2011 are now also available. In many districts, high school graduation rates improved over 2010, while in others, they did not. The City of Pittsburgh's graduation rate declined slightly to 68.5 percent, which was also reported by A+ Schools earlier this week in their 2012 Report to the Community. That rate was fifth-lowest in the region.  Wilkinsburg had the lowest rate (53 percent) in the region, followed by McKeesport (55 percent), Uniontown (60 percent), and Washington (68 percent).
