The core message of Not In Our Town is that each of us has a role to play in stopping hate and creating safe, inclusive communities and schools for everyone. In the midst of heightened political tensions, we've put together a series of simple action steps which you can take and share with others in your city or school.

Whether you're a concerned resident, student, educator, city leader, law enforcement or faith leader, share these concrete steps we can all take to stop hate together.

Warriors Inspire Students to Take the NIOT Pledge

Dr. Joseph Marshall encourages students to speak up about bullying.
Hundreds of students gathered in Oakland this week to watch their local NBA team, the Golden State Warriors, take a powerful stand against bullying with Not In Our Town

Warriors point guard Shaun Livingston took the #NotOnOurGround pledge on stage, at an event co-hosted by Adobe (#IAmAWitness) and attended by San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon, saying "I pledge to stand up to all forms of hate, bigotry and bullying."

Three hundred students from 5 area schools attended the event at the Scottish Rite Center
News coverage spread the anti bullying message, including reports on ABC7News, the San Jose Mercury-News, and KTVU-Fox.

It was an inspiring event and the culmination of a months-long competition, which called on students to interpret our pledge through artistic presentations and performances. Many thanks to the Golden State Warriors and Adobe for presenting NIOT with a $5,000 donation at the event!

Read more here and look for upcoming coverage of the competition, voices of the student leaders, and a message from Shaun Livingston, on Facebook and the Warriors site
