For money anxiety
and associated woes ...
Family Service
offers a holistic approach

An empty wallet triggers many concerns - how to pay the mounting bills, buy groceries, cover the rent/mortgage, utilities, transportation. Bill collectors are at the door and you have no savings for the future. When unemployment, under-employment, divorce, illness and other problems result in debt, the repercussions go beyond an empty wallet or depleted bank account.

Family Service knows that financial anxiety can lead to marital problems, child abuse or neglect, hunger, homelessness, depression, diminished health. We care. We are here to help. Our spectrum of services offers real solutions to the complex problems of more than 96,000 real people every year.
Step One ... financial solvency.

We currently serve 2,000 families with year 'round financial counseling at the Financial Empowerment Center at The Neighborhood Place.  To most of our clients, debt seemed insurmountable, but slowly and with steadfast determination, they have reduced their debt by $3 million and we have helped them save $200,000 since opening the Financial Empowerment Center in 2013. Watch for news on the upcoming launch of a second Financial Empowerment Center to be managed by Family Service.
Step Two ... FREE financial planning.

In conjunction with a group of Certified Financial Planners, we offer a FREE Financial Planning Day - our fifth annual event. You're invited to join us on Saturday, October 3, from 9 a.m. to noon at The Neighborhood Place at 3014 Rivas Street. To end current financial distress, avoid future problems and prudently plan for the long-term, these professional planners will help you with such issues as:
  • Debt Management
  • Retirement Planning
  • Investment Strategies
  • Income Taxes
  • Insurance
  • Estate Planning

Plan to attend this FREE event, bringing with you any questions you'd like to address, relevant financial documents and a snapshot of your current financial picture.
Step Three ... looking beyond money.

When financial troubles effect psychological, sociological and behavioral health, Family Service can help heal the wounds. We view each client through a holistic lens. While our Financial Empowerment Center can help with the financial end of the spectrum, our counselors, educators, case managers, child care resource and referral services, parenting guidance, and early childhood/Head Start facilities can help resolve the secondary consequences of poverty and financial instability.
