Legal Tender Horseshoe Rules
First Player to score 21 points wins. Must win by 2 points if tied at 21.
Ringers count three points. All ringers by all Players count. LEANERS = ONE POINT.
A shoe is counted as a ringer if the ends of the shoe encircling the Stake can be touched with a straightedge without touching the Stake.
All shoes within scoring distance count one point. Scoring distance is within a width of the horseshoe, measured from the outside of the open end of the shoe.
If a Player steps over the Foul Line, the toss/pitch does not count. The Foul Line is the edge of the railroad tie closest to the Opposite Stake.
If a shoe strikes the wooden railroad tie, it is immediately "Dead" and should be removed from the pit. Any point or ringer scored after a shoe strikes the railroad tie DOES NOT COUNT.
As many as four independent players can be playing at any given time.
The shooting order of the players at both pits shall be determined by the existing score at that pit. Trailing Player shoots first.
For example, if player A is leading Player B by a score of 9 - 7, Player B would shoot first. If Player B ties the score at 9 - 9, he would still shoot first until taking the lead, say at 10 - 9. Player A would then shoot first.
