Coaching
Our coaching staff recently was upgraded by ITTF/USATT training (Gloria, Clark, Edmund and Toshi) and subsequent certification. Two of these four have completed their certification, the other two are in process regarding the requirement for 30 hours "practice" following their intensive training last summer. All four now offer individual sessions plus special programs such as these (click on the links):
We also are fortunate to have other veteran members willing to coach on an individual basis.

tournaments during 2012.
The annual award honors Buster Chase, long time member who was elected to the Texas State Senior Games Hall of Fame in 2009.
In further action, Gloria Cadavid, Cindy Prindle and Bruce Eichman were re-elected to another term on the SATTC Board of Directors.
Pictured below are the Voting Members who attended the meeting. Minutes are being prepared by Clark Nicholl and will be posted at the club soon.
President Loren Williams noted that we now have logged 17 months as an all-volunteer self governing nonprofit organization, a period of substantial growth within our club's first-ever dedicated space, paying our way while looking toward our first USATT-sanctioned tournament in February.
Many thanks to all who are making this possible.

Dues Discount
Save $60, lock in one year rate Our highest monthly dues category is $40/month which calculates to $480/year. Already a bargain, it gets even better if you pay 12 months in advance (lump sum) at the reduced rate of $420/year. This not only saves $60, it locks in the rate and protects you against an increase during the year. It's not required to start in January - in fact, you may begin your 12-months paid-up period any day of any month. This discounted rate, which is available only to $40 monthly members, began early last year at the request of one of our long time members. About half a dozen took advantage of the discount in 2012 but it's available to all $40 members. Contact Loren if you are interested. |

The New
Plastic Ball
It just keeps coming . . . and coming . . . and coming. Best guess now is July 2014. But what is it? . . . and why?
Thanks to Scott Kressner for passing along a link to a 16-minute video which contains information about the new poly ball.
Prepared by the Preston TTA of the UK, this video compares a prototype of the new ball with the current 40mm celluloid ball and the former 38mm ball.

Therapy
Arranged by SATTC para coach Toshi Nobe, three of our members brought table tennis therapy to wounded warriors at the spinal injury unit of the San Antonio VA Hospital on December 14, 2012.
Para players are always welcome at our club. We hope to see more of them - and more often, including league and tournament play. But we also go to their house from time to time as shown below.
