Hunter & Jumper News.....
__________________
Our Hunter and Jumper team has spent a few weeks at home, schooling horses and taking full advantage of the beautiful Texas fall weather. They are on the road again beginning this week, spending one week in Tyler and two weeks in Katy.
Renowned Hunter Champion rider Jennifer Alfano enjoyed a nice ride aboard Reining celebrity Smart and Shiney, owned by Lyle Lovett, during her recent visit to McQuay Stables. Jen rides for SBS Farms, owned by Susan Schoelkoph. Thanks, Jen, for coming to ride with us at McQuay Stables!
Frisco (Oh Son x GG Valentine), owned by Barbara Carnie, a client of Susan Schoelkoph. Frisco is certainly royally bred, boasting Olympic Horse, Oh Son, owned by Todd Menicus as his sire and GG Valentine, USEF Horse Of The Year title recipient with Jen Alfano, as his dam.
Thank you, Susan Schoelkoph and Jennifer Alfano, for recommending that Barbara send Frisco to McQuay Stables!
Buddies, Gretchen Draper and Carlee McCutcheon, spent a weekend riding together at the farm during the break from shows. The duo is pictured here are Great Southwest Equestrian Center during a fall show with "Miracle on 34th Street in the background. Thank you, Alan & Kathy Reinheimer, for "Miracle"! He has been a great addition to McQuay Stables. Carlee is enjoying him and learning more about riding with his help!
Also spending time riding at McQuay Stables recently were Martha and Luke Jensen. Pictured here are Carlee and Luke, being silly at a restaurant. Thanks for riding with us, Martha and Luke!
We have also enjoyed the company of Mr. and Mrs. Jason Schnelle, owners of "Finn", in the recent past.
Sarah Boyd has made time for plenty of riding with us here at McQuay Stables during the time off from shows. We look forward to her company at the upcoming fall shows!
Welcome to our new clients in the Hunter barn! More info about these horses and riders to come next month.
Thanks, everyone, for your hard work! We look forward to heading back down the road. Good luck to our clients headed to Tyler and Katy! Watch for show results soon.

Inaugural Heritage Futurity at Great Southwest Equestrian Center Surpasses Expectations!
As hosts of the first-ever Heritage Futurity and Show, Great Southwest Equestrian center combined a facility full of opportunity with significant added money and expertise from Reining veterans to create a Reining event that was enjoyed by many. The inaugural show boasted approximately 400 stalls sold, 80 entries in the open futurity, and excellent participation in both the non pro futurity and ancillary classes. Thank you to the Great Southwest Equestrian Center for adding this great show to our fall futurity lineup!
McQuay Stables Heritage Futurity and Show Results:

The McQuay Stables team earned great success at the Heritage Futurity! Many thanks to our owners for sending their horses, our sponsors for keeping us going up and down the road, and Great Southwest Equestrian Center for hosting a great show! We look forward to attending this show year after year!

Lyle Lovett earned titles at the show on both of his geldings, SNS Uvalde King (by Smart and Shiney) and Two Gun Shiner (by Gunner). To sweeten the pot, both geldings were raised by Lyle! Lyle was Champion in the Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro, Limited Non Pro, and AQHA Amateur Classes aboard SNS Uvalde King, also placing third in the Novice Horse Non Pro Level 1. Riding Two Gun Shiner, Lyle was Reserve Champion in the Novice Horse Non Pro Level 2. Congratulations, Lyle!
Jerry Kimmel had a great trip to the Heritage Futurity, with two of his horses tying to win the Novice Horse Open class! Tim and My Daddy Is Dually (by Mister Nicadual and raised by Jerry) tied with Trey Pool and Gun Gotta Star (by Dun Gotta Gun and raised by Jerry) were co-champions!

Sam Schaffhauser & Gotta Be A Gunner (by Gunner and out of Katies Chic Olena) earned 8th place in the tough L3 Open Futurity with a score of 145.5, earning roughly $800 for owner, Jerry Hunsucker. "Frankie" was also raised by Jerry Hunsucker and his wife, Kay.

Tim McQuay and Gunna Sassya lead first go of SWRHA Futurity!
Scoring a 224, Tim and Gunna Sassya (Gunner x Shining N Sassy) took top honors in the first go of the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity. Consistency pays off, and a smooth 224 in the finals earned Tim and Sassya 6th place and a nice paycheck in the finals.
Sam Schaffhauser and Joe Johnson's JJS Custom Surprise (Custom Legend x Jeraldines Surprise) also qualified for the finals at the SWRHA Futurity in the L3. While getting rejuvenated for the finals, Hannah took "Legend" on walks in the beautiful Ardmore sunshine.
Tim also showed Jerry Kimmel's Check This Nicadual (Mister Nicadual x Check Your Gun Lady) to a score of 217 on a nice, smooth ride. "Checker" is ready to go for the NRHA Futurity next month!
