Hunter and Jumper News
Colleen, Alex, Amy and the Hunters and Jumpers have been home for 2 weeks after enjoying a great show circuit: HITS Thermal in California January through March, and the Great Southwest Spring Round Up, Pin Oak Charity & Spring Gathering Horse Shows in Katy, TX during March and April.
Results from the Katy Spring circuit:
 - Alex Ansteth and Capable, owned by Showcase Ltd, won the Texas Pre-Green Super Stakes class Week 1, finished 4th in the $5,000 National Hunter Derby, 7th in the $10,000 National Hunter Derby and earned top placings in a very large Pre-Green division. Capable is now qualified for the USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Program Championship! - Showing on a very light schedule, Brent, owned by Bernadette Mulliken, qualified for the USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Program Championship, by placing in the stake classes this Spring
 - Alex also piloted Oh Son, owned by Yates Hunter/Jumper LLC, to placings in the Pre-Green division. This was Oh Son's first circuit in the Pre-Green! 2013 National USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Program Already Successful! With over 200 horses currently enrolled in the National USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Program's first year, exhibitors and show managers are already benefiting from this great program. Don't forget to enroll all your eligible young horses for the pre-green incentive programs. Let us help you market your pre-green horses! The program consists of Pre-Green Stake classes and a Championship to be held in conjunction with the USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals. The Championship will offer not only a guaranteed $25,000 purse, but also 65% of all annual enrollment fees and a minimum of 50% of the total entry fees are added back to the total prize money, which is now $80,022.50 as of April 16, 2013. The recent $65,000 of Pre-Green money given out at Great Southwest Equestrian Center has created even more excitement centered around developing horses. With a marked boost in the sales of young horses in the area as well as imports from Europe, the hunter industry is certainly benefiting from the Pre-Green program, piloted by Texas in 2012. Mandy and Always Gotyer Gunsup (Gunner x Always A Dunit)

With approximately 1200 stalls sold and people from all parts of the world, the National Reining Breeders Classic again proved to be an exceptional horse show. Congratulations to Ronald Thompson for winning the L4 and Prime Time Non Pro Classic! Ronald was followed by Mandy McCutcheon who was second on Always Gotyer Gunsup (Gunner x Always A Dunit), third on Customized Gunner (Gunner x Custom Made Dun It), and tied for fourth on Shiney Enterprise (Smart And Shiney x My Royal Enterprise). When all was said and done, Mandy walked away with over $48,000!
Jennifer Anderson and her gelding, Get Juiced, made their debut in the Rookie class and had a great experience showing for their first time together!

Though on a tight schedule performing, Lyle Lovett joined us on the weekend and won the Limited Non Pro which had over 80 entries, on his horse, SNS Uvalde King. Congratulations Lyle and to one of our Ariat team members, Collene Burnell, who tied for second in the same class on her mare, White N Shiney Pearl! Both of these horses are by Smart And Shiney.
 We are grateful for our team leader Sam Schaffhauser, who did a great job. Thank you to owners Claude Lindsey, Sammy Graham, and David Silva for the opportunity to show your nice horses! Thank you to Jerry Kimmel for the opportunity for Tim to show Hollywood Gotta Gun (Hollywood Dun It x Katie Gun). The pair scored a 222.5 to earn $17,550 in the L4 and Prime Time Finals, held Saturday night.  | |
