Reining News

CONGRATULATIONS TIM, 3 MILLION DOLLAR RIDER, & DAVID SILVA, MILLION DOLLAR OWNER!!

"Finals night" on Saturday evening continues to prove its challenges for our 3 year old reiners and riders, but this 2012 NRHA Futurity ended on a very positive note for Tim on Gunners Tinseltown, David Silva, and colts by Gunner.

Tim McQuay and Gunners Tinseltown (Gunner x Miss Tinseltown) marked a 225 to take the Reserve Championship and took home over $143,000, including the 5% nomination by owner, Silva Reining Horses. These earnings officially moved Tim onto the NRHA Three Million Dollar Rider list and placed owner and nominator David Silva, Sr. on the NRHA Million Dollar Owner list. The pair also won the Prime Time Open Championship that is determined by a composite score of preliminary go-rounds.

Congratulations to Casey Deary and Americasnextgunmodel (Gunner x Cee Dun It Do It x Hollywood Dun It), NRHA Open Futurity Champions! The duo walked away with over $165,000. The $8,250 nominator incentive went to David Silva, Sr. This phenomenal mare was raised by Silva Reining Horses.

Gunner sires 14 Open & Non Pro Futurity Finalists, adding over $500,000 to his sire record at the 2012 NRHA Futurity Show!

Sam Schaffhauser and Whimpys Golden Gun (Wimpys Little Step x Docs Little Gunner x Gunner), raised and owned by Claude Lindsey, earned Reserve Champion honors in the L2 Open Futurity! The pair also took 5th place in the L3, earning over $29,000!

We'd also like to congratulate Trey Pool and My Daddy Is Dually (Mister Nicadual x Dun It On A Star x Hollywood Dun It), raised and owned by Jerry Kimmel. The pair placed 12th in the L1, 16th in the L2, and 26th in the L3 Open Futurity and adding over $7,000 to their LTE, as well as Mister Nicadual's sire record.

Congratulations to KR Billy Bob, a colt by Smart And Shiney and out of KR English Tee, L4 Open Futurity Finalists! After proving himself as a sire with his first foal crop, Smart And Shiney can now add Level 4 Open Finalist to his list of horses produced!

What a year for Cade McCutcheon!

Earlier this year, Cade and Shiney Enterprise (Smart And Shiney x My Royal Enterprise) won the AQHA Youth World 13 and Under and Intermediate Championship & 3rd place over all. Breaking NRHA records as the youngest rider to make the NRHA  NP Futurity Finals (at age 12, Cade broke his mother's record, who was 13 at her first finals), Cade finished his Friday Finals day with earning a little over $40,000 and a pretty big smile on his face!

Congratulations to Cade McCutcheon and Dually With A Star (Mister Nicadual x Dun It On A Star x Hollywood Dun It), owned by Tom & Mandy McCutcheon, Youth Non Pro Futurity Champions! Cade also tied for 12th on Dually With A Star in the L4 Non Pro Futurity. The duo placed 6th in the L3 and took the Reserve Championship in the L2 and L1 Non Pro Futurity, taking home over $36,000. Cade also took 5th place in the L1 Non Pro Futurity on Dun It Dually (Mister Nicadual x Indy Star Dun It x Hollywood Dun It), owned by McQuay Stables, along with placing 3rd in the Youth Non Pro Futurity on Dun It Dually, and tying for 8th with Vaquero In A Benz, owned by Tom & Mandy. Win or lose, we are so proud of Cade's desire, dedication and focus to his reiners.

Mister Nicadual sired 1st and 3rd place in the Youth Non Pro Futurity, and Dun Gotta Gun sired 2nd place. Congratulations to these great stallions, and to owner, Jerry Kimmel!

Mandy wins her 7th Non Pro Futurity Champion Title!
Mandy McCutcheon and Customized Gunner (Gunner x Custom Made Dunit x Hollywood Dun It) scored a 218.5 in the Non Pro L4 Finals, to tie with Jesse Asmussen riding Smart Chuka (Smart Spook x Chuka Chic). The pair then had a run-off, where by slim odds they both tied again, becoming Co-Champions of the event. 2012 Cinch NRHA Non Pro Futurity Co-Champions took home an array of prizes and over $36,000 in earnings for NRHA Million Dollar Rider, Mandy McCutcheon. Customized Gunner is owned by McQuay Stables, Inc., who earned $1,900 as the nominator.

Mandy also made the Non Pro Futurity Finals on Gun Chic Nic (Gunner x Remichic), owned by McQuay Stables, and on Starbucks Freckle (Smart Starbuck x Justa Spring Freckle), owned by Tom and Mandy.

"What a year it has been!" says Jeanna Schaffhauser. Jeanna and Dunitwithasmokingun
(Gunner x Dun It Doll x Hollywood Dun It), owned by Sam Schaffhauser, placed 3rd in the L2 Non Pro Futurity, 10th in the L3, and tied for 15th in the L4, walking away with over $20,000 in earnings! "I have been blessed to have the opportunity to become fully immersed in the McQuay program. I was fortunate to purchase 'Domingo' through the Legacy Sale, and he has become such a nice horse thanks to the training and guidance of Sam, Tim and Colleen. Sincere thanks to the McQuays and their crew for supporting me along the way. I could not have done it without them!"

Continuing thanks to Lyle Lovett for again contributing to the NRHA Celebrity Slide & Charity Event, leading "Team Fire" to a win in the Hometown Heroes Slide. The crowd always appreciates when they get a chance to see Smart And Shiney. Lyle also managed some time compete with SNS Uvalde King (by Smart And Shiney) in the ancillary pen during the Futurity, laying down some nice patterns, placing 7th in the Ltd Non Pro, out of over 100 horses!

Thank you to sponsors and staff of the NRHA Futurity for another great show! We understand and appreciate all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.
