Reining News!

Tim and the Reining team started the year off great at Lone Star Arena in Stephenville for the 6th Annual Cowboy Capital Classic, held March 7-13, 2011. Dolled Up Gunner (Gunner x Mifs Doll) and Jordan Larson tied Craig Schmersal and Lost In Tinseltown (out of the full sister to Hollywoodstinseltown). Dolled Up Gunner is the full sister to Gunners Special Nite, and Lost In Tinseltown was actually raised by Dave and Bonnie Silva. Thanks to Marcie and Paul for putting on a good show!

The McQuay Reining team then went on to the NRBC in Katy, TX, held from April 11-24, where Shawn Flarida and Shine Chic Shine won the Open Championship after a run-off against Todd Sommers and Whiz It A Chic. Mandy McCutcheon and Always Gotyer Gunsup finished 3rd in the Non Pro Finals, as well as placed with Chic Out My Ride and Starstruck Girl. Visit www.nrbc.com for more information and click here to read the entire story.

The last week in April was the debut of the Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup along with the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Bridgestone. This competition was made possible by the popularity of the Reining World Championships at the World Equestrian Games last September at the Kentucky Horse Park. Tim, Mandy And Sam Smith won the team event sponsored by Clark Oil.

In the individuals:

Tom was 4th on Chic Olena Starbuck

Mandy was 5th on Don Julio Whiz

Ariat International news

Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic Announces Renewed and Increased Support from Ariat International:

The Global Reining Sport Group, owners and producers of the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic, is thrilled to announce the continued support from Ariat International as the title sponsor of this prestigious event. For 2011, Ariat has increased their support substantially to show continued partnership with the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic, as one of the cornerstones in the annual show season, and has committed to a three-year title sponsorship agreement.

"For past exhibitors and new friends alike, this year's event will be special and with Ariat's continued and increased support, we see great things for our future.  We are very excited to show the world what is in store at the 2011 Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic, and beyond," said Colleen McQuay, president of the Global Reining Sport Group. Among the new changes, the Global Reining Sport Group has contracted HorsePower, Inc., the industry's leading show management and production firm to partner with the guidance of the GRSG on the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic.

New to the schedule at the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic are a few pioneering concepts, like the Developing Horse Futurity.  Intended for horses and riders who may not want to compete at the highest level, the Developing Horse Futurity offers riders a chance to develop their young horses in a competitive setting.

Also new is the addition of an FEI-sanctioned Concours de Reining International (CRI) five-star class on Friday night. Following on the heels of the mega-successful Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup Five-Star competition, the GRSG is excited to add this international-level of sport to the Tulsa schedule.

Plus, much of what Reiners from around the world have come to love about the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic will be familiar.  The event will still hold big-money aged event classes for futurity and derby horses, will still have multiple slates of ancillary classes and will once again be the host to the South Central Regional Affiliate Final, thanks to a firm partnership with OKRHA and plenty of hospitality and fun at this AA rated Reining event.

An official event website will be launched soon, giving all stakeholders a chance to gather information.  Until then, be sure to mark your schedules for August 27-Spetember 4 for the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic!
