In June 2012, when I accepted the challenge of being AFETT President, I was keenly aware of the footsteps I had to follow. Speaking with one of the founders, I listened to the original thoughts that were behind the formation of the Association. I learnt of the intent to help women network and develop and I heard of the hope for the growth of the Association to reach locally and even regionally. FOUNDING VISION
When Rhea, Nicolette and I first began discussing the idea of AFETT, it was because we recognised that there was no formal opportunity for professional women in Trinidad and Tobago to effectively network. For years, men had networked at the Oval, golf clubs or in Rotary, and although women were gradually being welcomed into these organisations, membership was still predominantly male. Read more.

AFETT, at the time of the start-up, was an organisation full of vibrant, energetic, professional women, eager to make a difference. BEST MEMORIES AND MOMENTS
10 years ago, with only 20 members, our memories were built around after-work or Saturday meetings in people's homes. Strategy setting required lots of brainpower and brain food. There was no meeting that didn't have a centre table with juice, coffee, cake and pies. After all, brainstorming required conversation and conversation was incomplete without food and drink. The Passing of AFETT Member Sybil Jack-Valentine |
AFETT member, Sybil Valentine, passed away. She served on the Finance Committee and was a tremendous help with Suit Me Up 2012. She leaves to mourn her husband and two children. AFETT would like to offer its condolences to her family in this time of bereavement.
