Did you hear the news?  Sebring was recently named the #3 Small City in Florida by Cities Journal.  The list null featured 16 small cities in Florida with Key West and Bonita Springs topping the list ahead of Sebring.

According to Cities Journal, "the town (Sebring) boasts a quaint downtown and a bucolic setting for many who like to avoid urban areas. Sebring puts on a number of modest holiday-specific events each year and many residents spend a great deal of time at the nearby Highlands Hammock State Park.  While many would see it as a drawback, the long-time residents boast of the absence of any Interstates or major highways. They like the fact this serves as something of a buffer against the tourists and development that have changed so much of the traditional Florida environment."

International Museum Day To Be Celebrated in Downtown Sebring on May 18

The Highlands Museum of the Arts (MoTA) is pleased to announce its participation in International Museum Day (IMD).  IMD is a celebration that is held worldwide each year on or around May 18 to increase public awareness about the role of museums in the development of society.  The celebration highlights the importance of

natural and cultural heritage contributed by museums.

International Museum Day reminds us that museums are living institutions that help create bonds between visitors, generations and cultures around the world.  Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.

The theme for this year's International Museum Day - Museum collections make connections - increases public awareness of the role of museums in the development and connectivity of a community such as Highlands County.  MoTA currently has the Citrus Labels & Crate Expectations exhibit on display.

Highlands MoTA will participate in this year's International Museum Day, on Sunday, May 18, by offering free admission and attendee reception at the Citrus Labels & Crate Expectations art exhibit from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  The Museum is located in the Allen Altvater Cultural Center in Downtown Sebring (351 W.
