Feb. 7: Bootleggers Ball - Roaring 20s

To kick off the 31st Annual Roaring 20s Festival, the Bootleggers Ball will be held at the Sebring Civic Center from 6-9 PM with libations, food samplings and live music from 'The Mudflappers' - Orlando's Best Folk Act.  Tickets $35 in advance.  A portion of the proceeds benefits Downtown Sebring organizations: Highlands Little Theatre, Highlands Museum of the Arts (MOTA) and the Downtown Sebring Business Alliance. Feb. 8: Roaring 20s Arts & Crafts Festival

Downtown Sebring will be having a "roaring" good time during the 31st Annual Roaring Twenties Arts & Crafts Festival from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.  Nearly 100 craft, art and food vendors will convene around Sebring's historic downtown Circle to celebrate Sebring's 1920's heritage.  Live music from 'The Mudflappers' - Orlando's Best Folk Act - will be provided from 11AM-3 PM. Roaring20sFest.com

 

Feb. 8: Mommy & Me Art Class: Princess & Heroes

Join the Highlands Art League at 10:00 a.m. for the very first class in a series titled 'Princess & Heroes.' Students ages 2+ are encouraged to dress up as their favorite princess or hero and paint one of several featured drawings created by the instructor.  $20/member; $25/non-member. 31st Annual Roaring 20s Festival Celebrates Historic Downtown Sebring

 

Doff your fedora, polish your pearls and celebrate a golden era of opulence, art and music when the Downtown Sebring's 31st Annual Roaring 20s Festival kicks up its heels again Feb. 7-8.

 

This festival, typically a one-day event, has been extended to two days and is a fabulous way to celebrate the festive days in South Central Florida when visitors flocked to the sunny shores of Downtown Sebring's Lake Jackson. The event, staged by Push Event Productions in partnership with the City of Sebring, Sebring CRA, and Highlands County Convention & Visitors Bureau, will transform the charming downtown of today back to the saucy 1920s.

Florida Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition Expands To Downtown Sebring  

 

The Sebring CRA is pleased to be participating in the 14th Annual Florida Outdoor Sculpture Competition this year.  The competition is hosted each year by the Polk Museum of Art (PMoA) as more than 50 pieces of outdoor sculptures are submitted for exhibit consideration in Lakeland and Winter Haven with the program expanding to Sebring this year.  The Sebring CRA will host six sculptures that will be installed in Downtown Sebring by March 7.

 

The exhibition will run from March 8, 2014 - Jan. 25, 2015.  The following artists and sculptures will be featured:

  • Hanna Jubran - Grimesland, NC

"The Three Graces" made of steel, coated iron & paint; 6' x 8' x 3'.  Location: Centennial Park

  • Craig Gray - Key West, FL

"Slices of Heaven" made of concrete combined with limestone; 2' x 1' x 3'6". Location: Highlands Art League

  • Aisling Millar - Greenville, NC

"Bealtine" made of steel; 7'11" x 2' x 1'.  Location: Highlands Art League/Cultural Center

  • Jack Howard-Potter - New York, NY

"Winged Glory" made of galvanized, powder-coated steel; 8'5" x 7'4" x 5'2.  Location: Circle Park

  • Adam Walls - Hope Mills, NC

"Father and Son" made of painted steel; 5'5" x 4' x 4'5".  Location: Near Rotary Park

  • Karyn Adamek - Lutz, FL

"Iron Horses" made of recycled metal; 6' x 8' x 3'.  Location: Centennial Park

 

Sculptures will be secured on a concrete slab and accompanied by a plaque with details about the artist and sculpture. Any artist is welcome to submit their work directly to the PMoA for consideration in next year's competition.
