 Curve Dental is definitely a leader when it comes to the cloud. So we do get our share of darts and arrows from mean people. In response, I'm presenting the top ten things mean people say about the cloud.

The second one: The cloud is too slow for imaging.

No, the cloud is not too slow for imaging. At Curve Dental we have hundreds of practices capturing x-rays, intraoral photographs, and pans direct to the cloud every day. Let me tell you how.

Today, the common digital camera on your smartphone takes a 10 megapixel image or higher. That's a fairly large file size and it's in full color.  But, that doesn't stop people from uploading their selfies and besties to Facebook by the millions. My wife is a Facebook master. She's uploading pictures of kids, family, friends, BBQ's, 5K's, and other events every single day without a hitch. And she's doing this over my wireless network, courtesy of hardware purchased from Walmart--using a smartphone, no less!

Look, the typical digital x-ray bitewing is a black-and-white image smaller than the 10 megapixel full-color image my wife posts to Facebook. Of course your Internet connection speed is paramount. But, if your upload connection to the Internet is better than 1MB you'll not really see speed as an issue at all. You'll be more thrilled by the fact that you'll never again have to worry about backups and running out of hard disk space.

The bottom line is that with Curve Dental's secret sauce for uploading images your bitewings will capture directly to the cloud faster than some client-server software, just as fast as others, and in some cases perhaps not as fast as others, but certainly fast enough to keep up with you and your team.
