Saplings Have Another Podium Finish!

This weekend, our double handed duo, Elizabeth Shaw and Brandon Yuen, took home 3rd place!

Elizabeth, a SapGrad, and Brandon, a current Sapling, competed in the PHRF 2 - Spinnaker Division aboard Oakcliff Ker 11.3. The first day, the pair dominated with a 1st and 2nd place finishes to secure a their place
and win the first day prize.

Our other Saplings, Christain Langalis and Parker Lyman, raced in the Cedar Point One Design Regatta aboard Dead Money, a Soverel 33. Their boat placed 5th in their division.

Congrats to all of our sailors!

Saplings with Breymaier and Dick

The Best Day Ever!

On Wednesday, our Saplings got a once in a lifetime opportunity to tour Banque Populaire VII and Hugo Boss!

The Saplings were buzzing with excitement after the visit on Thursday, and many of them exclaimed that they had the BEST DAY EVER!

The team of seven was lucky to chat with Pierre-Yves Moreau, the rigger of Banque Populaire VII, and Ryan Breymaier, the skipper of Hugo Boss.

Each sapling learned more about what it takes to be a professional in the sailing industry and new information that they can use while at Oakcliff and in the future.

If you would like to read more about their adventure, please check out our news here.

New Addition to the Team!

We finally have added a new PR person to our  team! Samantha Pilz is excited to join our team  and help us spread the word!

Her first week already has been filled with excitement and  new challenges. She has been working on our website and  writing news stories.

She is a recent graduate of Roger Williams University and  former college sailor. She is excited to join the team and  experience all that Oakcliff has to offer.

We are looking forward to having her as a part of our team..  and writing our news articles.

We hope to see you soon!

Speaking in Charleston

I'll be delivering the keynote speech at the Sail America Industry Conference in Charleston on June 10.  Later that day I'm on a panel speaking about women in sailing and their influence in purchasing decisions.  Also on the panel will be Margaret Podlich, the President of Boat US, and SapGrad Allie Gray, who will be adding the 'younger' voice to the session and for that matter to the whole conference.  She is also going to be sharing her experience as one of the few females working at the J-World sites in Key West and Newport and discussing her involvement in the Youth Ocean Racing Team.

If you are around, consider attending the conference.

Charity Regattas

Alzheimer's Regatta

June 14 will see sunny skies, lobsters roasted and funds raised for Alzheimer's.

You have the option of registering your own boat, sailing one of Oakcliff's Shields, or racing in the Grade 5 to raise money and join in for the party.

If you don't have a team, you can still sign up, and Bill will do his best to place you with a team or on an umpire boat. Either way: Click Here to get more information on pledging.

Sail The Sound for Deafness

A bit further away but still good to put in your calendars is the Sail the Sound for Deafness Regatta on August 7th.
