This weekend, our double handed duo, Elizabeth Shaw and Brandon Yuen, took home 3rd place!
Elizabeth, a SapGrad, and Brandon, a current Sapling, competed in the PHRF 2 - Spinnaker Division aboard Oakcliff Ker 11.3. The first day, the pair dominated with a 1st and 2nd place finishes to secure a their place and win the first day prize. The Best Day Ever!
On Wednesday, our Saplings got a once in a lifetime opportunity to tour Banque Populaire VII and Hugo Boss! The Saplings were buzzing with excitement after the visit on Thursday, and many of them exclaimed that they had the BEST DAY EVER! The team of seven was lucky to chat with Pierre-Yves Moreau, the rigger of Banque Populaire VII, and Ryan Breymaier, the skipper of Hugo Boss. Each sapling learned more about what it takes to be a professional in the sailing industry and new information that they can use while at Oakcliff and in the future. If you would like to read more about their adventure, please check out our news here.

Speaking in Charleston
I'll be delivering the keynote speech at the Sail America Industry Conference in Charleston on June 10. Later that day I'm on a panel speaking about women in sailing and their influence in purchasing decisions. Also on the panel will be Margaret Podlich, the President of Boat US, and SapGrad Allie Gray, who will be adding the 'younger' voice to the session and for that matter to the whole conference. She is also going to be sharing her experience as one of the few females working at the J-World sites in Key West and Newport and discussing her involvement in the Youth Ocean Racing Team.
If you are around, consider attending the conference.
