Farr 47 First in Class First Overall!
The Farr 47 raced in PHRF rounding Block Island neck and neck with the Ker 50 and Spookie. They dropped back a little and then came sneaking up the Connecticut Shore to dominate PHRF. The Farr 47 received line honors, 1st in class, and 1st overall.
The Ker 50 also had a good race beating arch rivals Spookie and Snow Lion to finish 3rd; after the group lost out to Gracie and Bombadino. Also on the race course was Chris Kennedy racing with Sea-Logic Dave Hommel and Rich Fleischman on Weegie, and they ended up taking 2nd in their class.
There are some great photos HERE from proud father Larry Kennedy.

Special Presentation: Charles W Morgan
This Saturday, Chris Freeman from Mystic Seaport will be sailing on Brilliant during the day and presenting a slide show of the very impressive restoration of the Charles W. Morgan.
We will start at 5:00 or as soon as racing finishes and there will be snacks... and beer and wine. We are planning for the Classic Sailors to attend, but all are welcome. We just ask that you send us an email and let us know you are coming so you don't go thirsty. For those wanting to sail - Classics Sailors should meet at OBMC at 12:30 and if you want to do a bit of match racing show up on Sunday at 9:45.

Jeff and Jake take 2nd in Atlantic Cup!
Jeff MacFarlane and Jake Arcand tied for 1st overall in the Atlantic Cup after winning the leg to Newport by under two minutes. After losing the tie breaker, they earned 2nd place overall! Jeff and Jake had an impressive 1st place finish during the second leg from New York Harbor to Newport, Rhode Island. To see more details on Jeff and Jake's race, visit the Atlantic Cup Web Site. Overall, the team was happy with their performance. They faced a few setbacks during the race, but they were able to overcome these difficulties as a team to earn their 2nd place finish. Jeff began a Class 40 campaign earlier this year in April. The Atlantic Cup is one of the races that he will be participating in; Jeff's next stop will be the Newport-Bermuda Race. To follow the rest of his campaign, please visit his website here. He is currently sailing a Class 40 that was loaned to him and Oakcliff from the USMMA-SF with support of board member Ralf Steitz. Jack Halyard's, a local Oyster Bay restaurant, and other individuals have also signed on as sponsors. Jeff and Jake, as with all of our SapGrad and Acorn Alumni, are out searching for success and always in need of sponsor and financial support. Here is more information on how to support them through the Travel Team Fund.

Speaking in Charleston
I'll be delivering the keynote speech at the Sail America Industry Conference in Charleston on June 10. Later that day I'm on a panel speaking about women in sailing and their influence in purchasing decisions. Also on the panel will be Margaret Podlich, the President of Boat US, and SapGrad Allie Gray, who will be adding the 'younger' voice to the session and for that matter to the whole conference. She is also going to be sharing her experience as one of the few females working at the J-World sites in Key West and Newport and discussing her involvement in the Youth Ocean Racing Team.
If you are around, consider attending the conference.
