New and exciting news is that we are starting to use our event space at 2 South for more cultural activities.  The show: The Fragility and Resilience of our Dunes will be presented March 2 from 11 to 3 only.  Read on for more details of this and other special events.

Mystic Award Hunt and Betsy
Once again, the model room of the New York Yacht Club will be the venue as Hunt and Betsy Lawrence are honored.  This time the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) is thanking them for their exemplary work in preserving classic yachts as well as providing opportunities for the training of young sailors.

The event, this Thursday will again feature heavy hor d'oeuvres  as well as a talk by Tom Widden. Tom was Dennis Conner's long- time tactician and is the current leader of North Technologies which owns North Sails, Southern Spars and a few other companies.  I am sure he'll have some good stories.  Click HERE for information and to buy tickets.

Recon: The menu will include; chicken satay with crunchy coconut sweet potato, Asian BBQ short rib nuggets and petite steak tartare amongst other things. Yum.
Art to Transform Oakcliff
Speaking of Yum: The brunch accompanying the art show: The Fragility and Resilience of our Dunes on March 2 is set to impress.  Caterer James Muir of Artaux has created a champagne brunch with a specially chosen menu  weaving in the unique tastes of berries, seafood and noodle salads which mimic the texture and movement of the dunes, the seagrass and the surrounding areas.

Of course the champagne brunch is just to enhance the experience, the real star of the show will be the large scale art installations by Betsy Lawrence.  Other artists invited artist are: Sue DiSanti, Kirk Larsen, ,Richard Bonomo Diane Schottenstein, Nancy Shapiro, Frank Olt, Judy Swanson and John Taylor.

Ronnie is busy sprucing up the area and it is turning out to be a really fun and exciting  event.  Remember this is a pop-up show so you can only see it from 11 to 3 on March 2.  If you have not sent in your RSVP please do so now.
A Seminar for Everyone
If you are interested in becoming an umpire, need to refresh your credentials or simply want to improve your match racing by understanding more about what the heck the umpires are thinking, the US Sailing Umpire Seminar is for you.  It is being run this Sunday at 4 South Street. Click HERE for more information.

Not quite at the umpire level but want to know more about the match-racing game?  Our Five-Star Coach Tommy Burnham will be here March 16th - yes the day BEFORE St. Patrick's Day, to lay out the game from the basics to the inside tricks. Sign up HERE for the onshore warmup clinic.

Not so much of a match racer but want to strengthen your fleet racing?  Dave Perry will be here presenting North U Rules and Tactics Seminar on March 24th.  Click HERE  to reserve your audience with Dave the Rules Deity.
Oakcliff has something for everyone and we hope to see you more and more as we ramp up towards spring.  There are a lot of amazing things happening this year so please consider getting on board sooner rather than later.

Thank You!,

Another grad and past teammate of Jeff's, Claudia Delahoy is already in Europe. She flew herself to Lanzarote and is trying to race with the Women's Volvo Team SCA. She sent this message:
