Greetings!
Happy Holidays to all. We have heard from a few of you that you have missed our newsletters and we are touched ;-). Over the winter we try to minimize filling up your inbox but here is a short and cheery one for your reading.
Santa has already been good to us. He has given us a new Training Director in Jay Kehoe. The boats that went for a 'deep swim' in the hurricane are all inside and dry and receiving detailed maintenance. We have recently received a Farr 47 as a donation from Bill Dooley of Chicago and we are looking forward to a great 2013. Read on for all of the details. |

| Acorns and Saplings - A King Arrives: |
Jay Kehoe has joined Oakcliff as our Training Program Director. He may not be a king but he certainly is a wise man and he brings a wealth of experience which is only going to strengthen what Jacon and the staff built.
Jay has been the head coach at Stamford, Waterfront Director at Annapolis Yacht Club and an award winning coach for Olympic teams. I have known him for years and I think this is one of those 'perfect fits'.
Jay starts today. Just after Christmas he and Oakcliff will be providing coaching and debriefs for the Orange Bowl competitors who don't have a full time coach. He will also be able to answer all of your questions on the Acorn and Sapling programs. Applications are currently being ACCEPTED. You can read the full press release HERE.

| They Followed a Star... to St. Thomas and Malaysia |
Saplings Chris Kennedy and Max St. Maurice were invited to race with Oakcliff regular Chris Poole in the Carlos Aguilar Match Race in St. Thomas and finished in 6th place.
Sally Barkow won defeating her coach and Oakcliff Board Member, Dave Perry in the finals. "For me it was a win-win," says Perry of his team's second place finish and his student's first. "Sally's team is really good and they have evolved their game well. I was impatient. I had some advantages and gave them away. This either put me behind or put me further behind and Sally took advantage of that." You will see Sally sailing a Match 40 in our 2013 email header and all indications are that Sally will be joining the esteemed list of coaches coming to Oakcliff next summer.
Also Grand Slam winner Taylor Canfield really cleaned up last week winning the Monsoon Cup. This is the final event on the Grade 1 Match Race World Tour and it follows Taylor's win at the Argo Gold Cup in Bermuda which is also a World Tour Event.
As you should be aware, Oakcliff's mission is to raise the level of sailors and sailing in the US and to see the rising stars who have gone from crashing boats to winning regattas is yet another gift.
