Bishop Watterson Wednesday News
March 2, 2016
Dear Parents,

lenten cross As we yearn for the light of the sun to shine down upon us, let us pray that we can shine our light onto others.
Jesus, help me to spread your fragrance wherever I am.
Fill my heart with your Spirit and your life.
Penetrate my being and take such hold of me
that my life becomes a radiation of your own life.
Give your light through me and remain in me in such a way
that every soul I come in contact with can feel
your presence in me.
May people not see me, but see you in me.
Remain in me, so that I shine with your light,
And may others be illuminated by my light.
All light will come from you, O Jesus.
Not even the smallest ray of light will be mine.
You will illuminate others through me.
Place on my lips your greatest praise,
Illuminating others around me.
May I preach you with actions more than words,
with the visible light of the love that comes from you
to my heart. Amen

Prayer written by Cardinal Newman
Have a blessed week.

Sincerely,
Marian Hutson
Principal

Watterson 101

Fill Up Friday

Last week's Fill Up Friday collection was one of our best on record! Teams Toy Story and Finding Nemo delivered more than 16,000 items to Holy Family Soup Kitchen!
The theme for the next collection day on March 11 will be Superheroes: Superman, Captain America, Wonder Woman. In the meantime, if you would like to pick up items, they will be collecting for Our Lady of Guadalupe Center which is in need of sugar, beans, salt, dish soap, canned corn, baby wipes, laundry detergent and canned fruit.
Gospel Road 2016

Registration Time

Registration will be accepted next Monday for Gospel Road. Gospel Road will be held July 10-14 in East Columbus.  At this time we have 18 available spots for students.  If we have additional chaperones step forward, we will be able to add students.  The cost is $140. and is due at the time of registration.  If more than 18 students sign up, we will begin a wait list in case we get an extra chaperone and can take additional students. For additional information email Theology Teacher and retreat coordinator Beth Simmonds at bsimmond@cdeducation.org

For the registration form, click here.

Students may also sign up to attend through their parish youth ministries.

Chaperones Needed
Parents, consider serving as a chaperone for the 2016 Gospel Road! Gospel Road is the local mission trip organized through the Diocese of Columbus Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. It will be held  July 10-14 and is being hosted this year by St. Puis X, Holy Spirit and Seton parishes.

The Diocese requires a 1 to six ratio of adults to youth, so the number of youth we can take is dependent on the number of adult chaperones. In addition, each group is required to have enough chaperones to provide daily transportation to work sites and mission trip activities.

Email Theology teacher and retreat coordinator Beth Simmonds at bsimmond@cdeducation.org for more information or to volunteer.
April Kairos
Registration for the April 17-20 Kairos at Sts. Peter and Paul Retreat Center  is underway. Spots are going quickly.   Kairos is a 3.5 day retreat for seniors which encourages students to have a deeper understanding of themselves, one another and God. The retreat is facilitated by Watterson students and faculty.

The initial deposit is $125. And the final payment of $150. is due prior to the retreat. Contact Deacon Frank Iannarino for information on financial aid.

For more information, contact Theology teacher and retreat coordinator  Beth Simmonds at bsimmond@cdeducation.org.

Eucharistic Adoration
We will have Eucharistic Adoration each Wednesday during Lent. It begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends with Benediction at 2:45 p.m. Parents are welcome to sign-up by emailing or calling Immaculate Conception parishioners Bill and Mary Beth Hinger at bhinger@columbus.rr.com or (614) 262-9332.  Parents can park in the visitor spots and then come in to spend a holy hour with Our Lord. Students and faculty are also invited to come to the chapel during lunchtime, study hall or theology class.
