BWHS Business Club will host its annual Sunday with Santa charity event which includes photos with Santa, crafts and a bake sale. Sunday with Santa admission for youngsters is $5 and proceeds will go to the Nationwide Children's Hospital Christine Wilson '01 Burn Unit.

A Christmas Carol-A Ghost Story of Christmas
The Bishop Watterson Theatre Department is pleased to present A Christmas Carol-A Ghost Story of Christmas. The eerie, more ghostly tone of Michael Wilson's adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic Christmas tale is sure to delight audiences of all ages. Ebenezer Scrooge is played by junior, Marty McKew, sophomore Elizabeth Riser doubles as the ghost of Jacob Marley and Mrs. Dilber, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future are played by junior Emma Koehler, senior Jillian Fountain, and junior Paige Carter, respectively. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cratchit are played by sophomore Zach Uhazy and senior Anna Ehret. Junior Nolan Kelly doubles as the young Scrooge and his nephew, Fred while senior Maya Steller doubles as Scrooge's fiancé, Belle and Fred's wife. Finally, the stage manager is senior, Grace Beckman. The remainder of the cast and crew is comprised of students from every grade and boasts alums from all of Bishop Watterson's feeder schools. Dates of the show are December 4 (7:30 p.m.), 5 (7:30 p.m.), 6 (2:30 p.m.), and 11 (7:30 p.m.) with a special performance for the eighth graders of our feeder schools on the day of December 4th. Tickets prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.

BWHS will hold a Winter Cheer Clinic (grades K-6)on Sunday, January 17 with a follow-up performance at halftime of the varsity boys basketball game on January 22.  For more information/registration form, click here.

Bishop Watterson's Wrestling Club is a youth wrestling program open to students in grades 2-8 from all BWHS feeder schools and parishes. Practice sessions begin November 17 and continue through early March 2016. For more information/registration form, click here.

Meet Our St. Joseph of Arimathea Society
|

Bishop Watterson recently inducted 28 young men into its St. Joseph of Arimathea Society, a group named after the man who took the body of Jesus from the cross and placed it in his own new tomb. The group, now in its fourth year, consists of juniors and seniors who have been trained and commissioned for the service of assisting at the burial of the departed as pallbearers.
The SJA Society has a monthly meeting to discuss issues, talk about experiences, and to pray for the faithful departed, especially those whom they have recently served.

Four Seniors Commit to College Athletics

National Merit and Commended Scholars

Eight Bishop Watterson seniors have been named Commended Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation based on their scores on the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). In addition, John Markiewicz was named National Merit Scholar Semifinalist. Pictured left to right, first row: John Markiewicz (no parish affiliation) is involved in the BWHS theater program and is a member of the Gold Standard A Cappella Choir. In addition, he is involved with the Open Source Club at The Ohio State University, has volunteered for local organizations and plans to study computer science and engineering in college. Alex Proca (St. Michael School and Parish) plans to double major in computer science/applied mathematics and biology/neuroscience. She is a member of National Honor Society, the varsity cross country and track and field teams, Student Council, Worship Band, and French Club. She also participates in the BWHS drama program and volunteers at the Worthington Library, Ohio State as a swim meet timer and for Worthington Special Olympics as a swim coach. Erin O'Brien (Our Lady of Peace School and Parish) plans to major in chemical engineering. She is in her fourth year running cross country and has also played basketball. Erin is also a member of Business Club, Spanish Club and the National Honor Society. She volunteers at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Kinder Women's Care Center and at Our Lady of Peace as an altar server. In addition, Erin took part in a mission trip to Guatemala and El Salvador earlier this year. Lily Kreber (St. Agatha School and Parish) is a member of the BWHS varsity field hockey and Mock Trial teams as well as the Spanish Club. She is vice president of National Honor Society and a member of the leadership team for St. Agatha's youth group. Lily has participated in the St. Agatha Cranks Creek mission trip as well as the Guatemala/El Salvador mission trip, and works part-time at Chik-fil-A Samwise Parkinson (no parish affiliation/Calumet Christian School) is co-captain of the boys tennis team and a member of the Chess Club and participated in a mission trip in Appalachia. He has also volunteered his time at the Whetstone Library. Samwise plans to major in biology at The Ohio State University. Second row: Joel Silleck (St. Timothy School and Parish) plays football and rugby at BWHS and is a member of National Honor Society, National Business Honor Society, the Mock Trial team and Business Club. He works at Kroger, volunteers at the Dublin Food Pantry and has participated in a mission trip to Appalachia. Kira Keaslov (Our Lady of Peace School and Parish) plans to major in pre-med in college. She is a member of Student Council and works at Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. She has run cross country and played basketball for the Eagles and volunteers at Nationwide Children's Hospital. She also helps coach 5th grade volleyball and basketball at Our Lady of Peace Parish. Claire DiOrio (St. Timothy School and Parish) is National Honor Society President, a captain of the cross country team, and Italian Club President. She also participates in track and field, is a religious education teacher at St. Timothy and has done Gospel Road and Cranks Creek mission trips. Claire volunteers with Special Olympics and tutors math. David Szolosi (St. Agatha School and Parish) plans to major in International Studies at The Ohio State University. He is a three-year varsity letter-winner in cross country who is working on his Eagle rank in Boy Scouts. David is also a member of the St. Joseph of Arimathea Pallbearer Society and the Mock Trial Club and he helped start the BWHS Rock Climbing Club. In addition, he has been on the St. Agatha Youth Group leadership team for three years, participated in the St. Agatha Cranks Creek mission trip for four years and has been a camp counselor at the Catholic Youth Summer Camp |

 Did you know?Bishop Watterson offers 22 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, 16 honors courses; 14 of our courses qualify for College Credit Plus credits through Ohio Dominican University. *
Members of the 250-strong Class of 2015 were accepted at 141 colleges and universities, with plans to attend 69, including: Harvard, Penn, Duquesne, Georgetown, Notre Dame, and Villanova to name just a few. * Service to the community is part of our sophomore theology curriculum, with BWHS placing students in more than 60 local organizations. In addition, more than 70 percent of our students do volunteer work outside of their sophomore service projects.

We have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in our Chapel throughout the school day on the first Wednesday of each month. It begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends with Benediction at 2:45 p.m. Parents are welcome to sign-up by emailing or calling Immaculate Conception parishioners Bill and Mary Beth Hinger at bhinger@columbus.rr.com or (614) 262-9332. Parents can park in the visitor spots and then come in to spend a holy hour with Our Lord. Students and faculty are also invited to come to the chapel during their conference period, lunchtime, study hall or theology class.
