Bishop Watterson Wednesday News
September 16, 2015
Dear Parents,

I hope your child had an opportunity to talk to you about Immaculee Ilibagiza's visit.  Her message about forgiveness, the need for faith, and the unconditional love of both God and Mary is very important in today's fractured world.

Let us unite ourselves to Mary in her sorrow in the hope that we will one day also share her joy in the triumph of her Son. Let us pray...

Most holy Virgin and Mother,
whose soul was pierced by a sword of sorrow
in the Passion of thy divine Son,
and who in His glorious Resurrection was filled with
never-ending joy at His triumph;
obtain for us who call upon thee, so to be partakers in the adversities of the
Holy Church and the sorrows of the Sovereign Pontiff,
as to be found worthy to rejoice with them in the
consolation for which we pray,
in the charity and peace of the same Christ our Lord.
Amen
Have a good week.

Sincerely,
Marian Hutson
Principal

Emergency Food Collection!  FRIDAY

Bishop Watterson received an urgent request from Father Stash Daley from Holy Family Church.  Father said that St. Francis Parish in McArthur, Ohio is in an emergency situation with a desperate need of our help as they have no food on their shelves.

The St. Francis Center in McArthur, Ohio is a food pantry located in the heart of Vinton County.  They are the primary source of food, household items, clothing and school supplies for struggling families that live in the foot hills of Appalachia.

In an effort to help support our Appalachian community, we are asking each student to bring in 10 canned-food items or $10 THIS FRIDAY, September 18.

Students who bring in their canned goods or money are able to wear Red and Gold on game day Friday!  The varsity football team takes on St. Charles that night so let's.....

Social Media Tip

Parents are the first educators for their teens in  internet safety and also social media use. Teaching moderation early can make a big difference for your child later. A new study from the University of Glasgow concludes that teens who feel the need to be on social media 24/7 are more susceptible to anxiety and sleep disorders. Click here to read more.

SEEKING HOST FAMILIES FOR FRENCH EXCHANGE

eiffel tower Did you miss out on the opportunity to host an Italian exchange student this month? Well, you're in luck. There is a French exchange program in February.

Why not host an exchange student from Watterson's sister-school in France in your home for two weeks this February? There is no fee to do so and the benefits for your child/children are immense. The French students are fully chaperoned by teachers from our sister-school, Institution St. Joseph in Le Havre in Normandy.   Plus, NO FRENCH is necessary. In fact, we are actively seeking non-French students to take part in the program.

During the two weeks, your exchange student will accompany your Watterson student to school and will either go to school with him/her or go on day trips to various cultural, historical, scientific or governmental sights in Central Ohio. Your Watterson student may go on the trips too (two maximum) if he/she wants.   Your only responsibility is to provide a home, transportation to/from school (and occasionally evening activities), meals and sack lunches.   Finally, should you wish, your Watterson student can return the visit to France this June - at an approximate cost of around $2,000.00 for two full weeks.

So, why not? We need nearly 30 host families from February 6 - February 20,  2016 (dates subject to change) and could certainly use your help. We're especially looking for hosts for boys. Contact Jim Dury at jdury@cdeducation.org or 268.8671 (324) for more information or to sign up.

Merci!
