Bishop Watterson Wednesday News
September 9, 2015
Dear Parents,

The devotion for the month of September is to Our Lady of Sorrows. We are reminded of Mary's suffering as she saw her Son crucified and tortured.

Virgin most sorrowful, pray for us.

Have a good week.

Sincerely,
Marian Hutson
Principal

Watterson 101

Class of 2015: 98.4 percent of the class had determined a path to college at graduation. One has joined the U.S. Army, another joined the Marines, one is taking time off to work and another is moving on to play hockey in the college feeder system. We pray that our graduates find the path that is best suited to each of them, and we wish them all the best!

Tablet PCs and BYOD
We are able to offer a BWHS-issued tablet PC to our sophomore students, along with our juniors and seniors, for use during the 2015-16 school year. This is an alternative to those students who do not choose to bring a device from home. A packet of information for students not currently enrolled in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program will be sent home with your child.
As a reminder, if your child is participating in the BYOD program and you have signed for multiple years (no expiration date), we will not prepare a BWHS tablet PC for your student. If you prefer for your child to use a BWHS-issued tablet PC, please complete the form that will be sent home with your child.

Watterson wear, home decorating items, designer purses, jewelry, college gear, religious items, homemade items, etc.  Remember, no donation is too small as it may be combined with other items to create larger packages for the silent auction.

Students can also create a resume, lists of possible colleges, research scholarships, and so much more.
Counselors will work with students to create their individual accounts. Parents will receive an email in the next few days that contains log in information needed to create their accounts. Please create your account as soon as you receive the email.

SEEKING HOST FAMILIES FOR FRENCH EXCHANGE

eiffel tower Did you miss out on the opportunity to host an Italian exchange student this month? Well, you're in luck. There is a French exchange program in February.

Why not host an exchange student from Watterson's sister-school in France in your home for two weeks this February? There is no fee to do so and the benefits for your child/children are immense. The French students are fully chaperoned by teachers from our sister-school, Institution St. Joseph in Le Havre in Normandy.   Plus, NO FRENCH is necessary. In fact, we are actively seeking non-French students to take part in the program.

During the two weeks, your exchange student will accompany your Watterson student to school and will either go to school with him/her or go on day trips to various cultural, historical, scientific or governmental sights in Central Ohio. Your Watterson student may go on the trips too (two maximum) if he/she wants.   Your only responsibility is to provide a home, transportation to/from school (and occasionally evening activities), meals and sack lunches.   Finally, should you wish, your Watterson student can return the visit to France this June - at an approximate cost of around $2,000.00 for two full weeks.

So, why not? We need nearly 30 host families from February 6 - February 20,  2016 (dates subject to change) and could certainly use your help. We're especially looking for hosts for boys. Contact Jim Dury at jdury@cdeducation.org or 268.8671 (324) for more information or to sign up.

Merci!
