Fill Up Fridays

Fill Up Fridays is a Lenten tradition at Bishop Watterson. Students form teams and the teams compete to see who can "fill up the truck" with the most items for local charities. Two -- and sometimes three -- teams advertise their competition all week and on the designated Friday morning they park in front of the school to collect the donations. The first two collection weeks were cold but the teams warmed up quickly when they counted and made their deliveries to the agencies.

The last Fill-Up Friday collection will be on March 27 for the St. Francis Outreach Center. Teams are collecting pasta, pasta sauce, hygiene products and paper products.

Science Teacher Wins Award

Mr. Reiss received a standing ovation at the Ash Wednesday liturgy when the school learned he was named Clintonville Volunteer of the Year.
Mr. Reiss and Clintonville Businessperson of the Year Addie Davis-Holsinger '05 were honored at the Clintonville Chamber of Commerce Celebrate Clintonville dinner.

BWHS science teacher Will Reiss has been named Clintonville ThisWeek Booster Community Volunteer of the Year for 2015. He was honored at the Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce "Celebrate Clintonville" Awards Dinner.

Mr. Reiss has made a great impact not just in the classes he teaches but by creating a culture of recycling within the school community. He has worked tirelessly to reduce the amount of trash and increase the recycling efforts, resulting in greater awareness, change of behavior and positive financial impact.

"We are so happy that Will is being recognized in the community," said Principal Marian Hutson. "His quiet, consistent dedication to caring for the environment God gave us has been an example to our students and staff alike."

In The Know Team vs. Faculty

Our In the Know team took on the faculty in the Mike Crisp Memorial Tournament. Mr. Crisp was a social studies teacher and In The Know advisor for many years who passed away last summer after fighting kidney cancer for more than a year. He truly enjoyed this annual event which is why it is now named in his honor.
