The National High School Baseball Coaches Association has announced that Bishop Watterson coach Scott Manahan is a member of the 2015 class in the NHSBCA Hall of Fame, the eighth group to be inducted.

Manahan's teams have won 15 league championships, 19 sectional titles, nine District Championships and have played in three State Final Fours, winning the Division II State Championship at Bishop Watterson in 1997. Coach Manahan has led the Eagles to four Division II State Poll Championships and was named the Ohio Division II coach of the year in 1995, 1997 and 2003.

Currently the Secretary of the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association, he has also served as a past President of the OHSBCA and the Central District Baseball Coaches Association.

With a career record of 542-238 (.695), Coach Manahan was inducted into the Central District Ohio Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame and also the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in the class of 2005.

The Alumni Department is planning to recognize members of the 1995, 2005, and 2009 State Championship Field Hockey teams as well as the 2004 State Championship Golf team at halftime of the BWHS vs. Grove City boys' basketball game on Saturday, January 31, 2015. State Champions and their families have been invited to a reception in Dominican Hall prior to the game.  Reception begins at 7:00 pm. Game time 7:30 pm.

Eighteen teams gathered on Sunday, December 21 for our annual Shay Alumni Basketball Tournament, which has become a holiday tradition for many BWHS alumni.  

The competition was fierce and highlights of the day included the Class of 2009 edging out the Class of 2014 in the Bracket 3 championship game thanks to a buzzer-beater by Andy Winters.

Final score of the championship game: 

Class of 2009 - 53, Class of 2014 -  51. 

A large crowd gathered in Dominican Hall after the games to rehash the day's play, watch games on the big screens, and enjoy pizza, Roosters' wings, and refreshments.   

Proceeds from this event fund scholarships to BWHS.

We are very thankful to these alumni and friends who have taken time out of their busy schedules to help with this service endeavor. 

The Alumni Department continues to provide service at St. Lawrence Haven on the second Wednesday of every month. We volunteer from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On January 7, we prepared and packaged nearly 300 meals. 

St. Lawrence Haven is the St. Vincent de Paul-run sack lunch program. The Haven sits behind Holy Cross Church at the corner of Rich and Main Streets downtown. Approximately 300 to 500 meals are served each day. St. Lawrence Haven really appreciates our monthly visits.
