The Bishop Watterson Alumni Department would like to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year! 

The Alumni Department is planning to recognize members of the 1995, 2005, and 2009 State Championship Field Hockey teams as well as the 2004 State Championship Golf team at halftime of the BWHS vs. Grove City boys' basketball game on Saturday, January 31, 2015. State Champions and their families have been invited to a reception in Dominican Hall prior to the game.

Plans are underway for a Chicago-area Bishop Watterson Reunion!

Join Bishop Watterson alumni for pizza and refreshments, and the opportunity to visit with Principal Marian Hutson and Alumni Director Scott Manahan.

The week before finals students in our Marketing classes had guest speakers relate their "real world" experiences to the student's classroom learning.

Guest speakers included Bishop Watterson alumni, parents and supporters of Bishop Watterson High School.

Matt Gill '84, co-owner of the India Oak Restaurant, and George Cleary '86, owner of the Cleary Company, which is a home remodeling business, discussed various aspects of small business ownership.

Tom Benadum, former president of Cross Country Inns, and husband of Patricia Benadum '59,  shared his insight as he discussed changes in business since he began his career. The Benadum's had six children graduate from Bishop Watterson;  Beth '83, Sarah' 86, Kristin '88, Megan '90, Thomas '95 and Michael '98. In addition the Benadums have 13 grandchildren which have either graduated from Bishop Watterson or will in the future.

We are very thankful to these alumni and friends who have taken time out of their busy schedules to help with this service endeavor. 

The Alumni Department continues to provide service at St. Lawrence Haven on the second Wednesday of every month. We volunteer from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On December 10, we prepared and packaged over 600 meals. 

St. Lawrence Haven is the St. Vincent de Paul-run sack lunch program. The Haven sits behind Holy Cross Church at the corner of Rich and Main streets downtown. Approximately 300 to 500 meals are served each day. St. Lawrence Haven really appreciates our monthly visits.

George Cleary '84, left, and daughter Molly, a BWHS senior, spent the day at Bishop Watterson talking to theology classes about their experiences last summer when they visited The Passion Center in Malawi, Africa. The Passion Center serves children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic, providing food, comfort, medical care and a safe place to live in the name of Jesus Christ.
