Selection Process

So, I am going to repeat the criteria for the selection process here and every week until Opening Day of the W Line, or until all of the selections have been made. (Hey, it's cycle riding time!). I will also include any updated cycle news.

As I reported in the December BIKE EIBER newsletter, I purchased two seats each for 15 day games at Coors Field for the 2013 Colorado Rockies baseball season. This effort is part of BIKE EIBER's initiative to encourage Eiber neighbors to learn and pass along their experience on the use of alternative transportation while enjoying America's favorite past time.

From this point on below, I am merely copying and pasting what I have written in the past, so I my writing will switch to Third Person.

The Action Plan:

To acquaint Eiber neighbors, Lakewood City Council Members and City of Lakewood employees and others to the joys of cycling and using light rail transportation by attending a Rockies Baseball game without the use of the automobile. The Plan utilizes all three of BIKE EIBER's initiatives: Health, Air Quality, and Alternative Transportation.

Here's the Deal: You will receive ONE FREE TICKET for the Rockies Game and you will meet Mr. Spriggs at the Garrison Street Station or the Lakewood-Wadsworth Light Rail Station. He will teach you how to take your bicycle on a light rail car and what direction to take when you exit at Union Station. You will then cycle to Coors Field, learn where to park your bicycle, and return via the same method. Your RTD fare both ways and Coors Field attendance is free. (Donations gladly accepted -- perhaps in the form of a hot dog & one beer to help cover cost, but neither is necessary).

If a person wants their husband/wife/partner/friend to go to the game to occupy the other seat Mr. Spriggs would normally occupy, he will gladly give up his seat but then you must pay your own RTD fares for both of you, ($9.00) and you must pay in advance for one seat tickets at Coors Field (a $26 face value). You will agree that you will be without the benefit of Mr. Spriggs' knowledge of how to get to Coors Field via bicycle and light rail.

**Special Invitation**

If you are an unsuccessful bidder, but you think that this sounds like so much fun that you can't resist, then please feel welcome to ask to tag along on one of the selected dates. Of course, you will have to pay your own RTD fare and Rockies Ticket and there would be no guarantee that you would sit close by. If you're curious as to the seat section at Coors Field for this offer, it is Section L329 - Lower Reserved, Infield. These are great seat locations as they are just above the Press Box behind home plate.

Selection Process Priorities

Below are the priorities in the selection process for those who respond.

Good luck and if interested and want to make a game selection, hit the reply button or email Mr. Spriggs at:

BikeEiber@comcast.net

>First selection

Went to go my wife, Diana -- for her dedicated years of care-giving to her grandson during the past seven years while her 39 year-old daughter still recovers from a stroke in 2005. She had unlimited sections available to her and she has pre-selected four games in the season to attend - see below... All picks from the 2nd thru the 6th priorities, are first come, first served.

>So, please note: from the 2nd to 6th criteria: ONLY ONE GAME SELECTION PER PERSON.

>2nd: Eiber Neighbors

>3rd: Ward 1 & Ward 2 Lakewood City Council Members

>4th: Any Lakewood City Council Member

>5th: Any Lakewood City Employee

>6th: Subscribers to BIKE EIBER not living within the boundaries of the Eiber Neighborhood.

A Cyclist's Lost Arm Becomes a Symbol of Reform in São Paulo
By Henry Grabar, Mar 26 2013
On March 9, several hundred ciclistas paulistas - bicycle riders in São Paulo, Brazil's largest city - took off their clothes and got on their bikes for the World Naked Bike Ride, the periodic, global joyride that has been called a "protest against everything." The Brazilian group had two particular concerns: the country's reliance on fossil fuels and the vulnerability of cyclists in São Paulo.
