Hi Everyone! This is Bill Spriggs and this is a Special Edition of THE BACK FENCE.

Political Endorsements.

[As a reminder: THE BACK FENCE is a "home work" assignment that evolved from the Transit Alliance Citizen's Academy and does not necessarily express their views as an entity].

From Bill Spriggs & The Back Fence, October 18, 2012

Dear Voters:

This week, election mail-in ballots have, or will soon, arrive in your mailbox. Voting by mail finally has become one of the most socially acceptable way to vote. The latest social events surround "voting parties" where groups of friends get together, discuss the issues, and then vote. The host in some cases provides the stamps and some in the group then drive to a local post office or blue mail box to deposit the ballots. It's all part of the "celebration" of making our voices heard.

As a retired letter-carrier, these are one some of my most proud and memorable moments: delivering the ballots to the residents and picking up the ballots for delivery to be mailed to the various county clerks.

Very briefly, the following endorsements are being made because we at THE BACK FENCE know that all these individuals understand the principle of "WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER" as a group for the betterment of all. The delusional belief that I BUILT THAT [by myself] with no help from anyone else totally ignores the biological logic of the first 18 years of one's life and the non-acceptance of all the assistance, we as young adults received from our family and friends.

We are no longer living in the Charles Dickens world of debtor's prisons and wide-spread child labor. If you have become successful in our society today, it is because every step of the way, someone was looking out for your interests and did - to the best of their ability - to make sure you had all the resources and opportunities made available to you at all times. And that my friends - is what is known as the biological "'Trickle Up' theory." It is how we managed to evolve out of the jungle and become "human."

Yes, individual initiative counts for a large part of the equation, but those who ignore the events that "greased the wheels of their success" stand solely in the column of greed and hubris.

Those of us at THE BACK FENCE endorse those below because they "get the concept" that all of us are in this together. And that is what public transit, new forms of alternative energy, lobbying for the issue of Climate Change, educating our children and sustainability are all about.

Have a good election, and may Truth, Justice, Shared Responsibility and Opportunities for all our children be preserved as we Go Forward.
