Indiana-ACC Members in Washington, DC | Nearly twenty Indiana-ACC members joined a record number of cardiovascular professionals (nearly 400, including approximately 100 Fellows in Training and 80 CV Team members) in Washington, DC, for ACC's 2014 Legislative Conference. This year's conference centered on the many ways the ACC is leading the way in transforming care. Here are photos of our Indiana colleagues. Members headed to Capitol Hill to meet directly with their legislators. In their meetings, ACC members shared examples of how the College is leading the transformation of care and urged Congress to work with the ACC to develop a quality driven health care system, ensure practice stability and secure the future of cardiovascular care. With a plethora of challenges facing health care providers, ACC members were able to provide first-hand perspectives of how decisions made in Washington impact practices and patients across the country. Hot topics on the Hill included Sustainable Growth Rate repeal, In-Office Ancillary Services Exception preservation, increased research and graduate medical education funding, incentivizing the use of clinical data registries and improving access for Medicaid children with complex medical problems. Take a look at the full set of messages that members took to congressional offices. |
NOW LIVE: ACC's College-Wide Mentoring Program |
The new ACC College-Wide mentoring program is now live at http://www.cardiosource.org/mentoring thanks to the efforts of the Early Career Professional council, staff, and Health-E-Careers.
All mentors are needed - not just academic, but private practice, researchers, and every other type of cardiologist and cardiothoracic surgeons. Early career professionals are looking for folks to learn from that may not be available from their own institution, and as such, we need you. Please visit http://www.cardiosource.org/mentoring to sign up. Early career members, please sign up as mentees.
Once a critical mass is reached, the program will commence in matching mentors to mentees based on a scoring algorithm, taking region, gender, speciality, etc. into account to ensure the best possible matches. The system will eventually be able to shepherd, evaluate, and allow changes in mentorship sessions and participants.

ACC Launches Public Hospital Profiles and Hospital Search Tool
|
The ACC has launched a public-facing hospital database and search tool that enables patients to find and compare hospitals in their area based on the cardiac services they provide and important information related to the care they give. Now, all hospitals participating in the NCDR have a Hospital Profile on CardioSmart.org, the ACC's patient education and empowerment website. Through these profiles, patients, caregivers and other stakeholders are able to search hospitals based on specific criteria (location, hospital name, services provided) and learn about every participating hospital's quality measurement efforts through the NCDR. The establishment of Hospital Profiles ensures that patients receive credible information about hospitals participating in the NCDR. For more information about this effort, visit NCDR.com. To find your hospital's profile, visit CardioSmart.org/FindaHospital.
