Perspective
New Year's Eve Celebration
It's all in how we look at problems. We will have
them, and most of them come unexpectedly. This Christmas vacation I had a doctor's appointment during the week in between Christmas and New Year's to remove a little melanoma from my ear. Out-of-town family were over at my house, but a few hours away at my appointment--not a problem. Then, on the way home, my wife started having intense stomach pains. A day later, we were in the hospital for an emergency appendectomy. She was in the hospital through the New Year. She is home now and resting. We were sad she missed visiting with our daughter and son-in-law and their twin girls, but it could have been worse. The killings in Istanbul were worse. Someone usually has it worse than us. Look around. Perspective. I also realize that this too will pass--and for Christians, the best is yet to come. Again, it's all in our perspective. Proverbs 16:1 says, "We can make our plans, but the final outcome is in God's hands." (LB) And in John 16:33 (NIV) our Lord says, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." Have a great 2017. Whatever the Lord may allow into our lives, let's keep the proper perspective.

Another Israel Trip
At our Annual Meeting, we will announce the dates and cost for our 2017 trip to the Holy Land. Last year we sold out early. It was a "trip of a lifetime" for many. Others said it was "the best trip to the Holy Land ever." We again have room for 50 people on a trip that will open your eyes to new sights and sounds that make the Bible come alive. We are in the final stages of planning this exciting trip.

New Start in Fullerton
This Sunday, Branches Church and Temple Baptist will start their new adventure together reaching people for Christ. January 8 will be the first Sunday that Pastor Israel Gomez will preach as the new pastor of Temple Baptist, and they will welcome in new members from Branches church to form one new unified church. Pacific Church Network played a big part in seeing these groups come together, taking Temple Baptist through a church assessment and then offering to find their next pastor. We look forward to great things happening in the future.

Great Date Night
We are planning a special night for couples this coming February 25, 2017. An afternoon coffee, followed by a great marriage workshop, and concluding with a memorable dinner you'll long remember. Brian and Chandra Howard and Jim and Vicki Smith will be leading the marriage workshops. Sign up here

Palm Springs Transition
On Sunday, January 1, Pastor Dave Hotelling of Palm Spring Baptist Church announced that he and his wife Arlene will soon be moving to Phoenix, and he will be resigning as senior pastor. His last Sunday will be January 22. Dave has been in Palm Springs for 11 years and has enjoyed his time there--he even loves the heat! The elders and church members have voted to ask PCN to lead them through this transition process. PCN will provide an interim pastor, do an all-church assessment and then, based on the results, find a pastor that will lead them to continue to honor the Lord and reach people for Jesus in the Palm Springs community.
Mustard Seed
Designed for pastors of TM and PCN churches of 200 attendees or less, the Mustard Seed conference invites you and your spouse to participate in 2 days of encouragement, training, inspiration and relaxed fellowship in beautiful Dana Point. Monday, February 27 at 1:00 pm through Tuesday, February 28 at 4 pm. Cost is only $89. More information
Generosity Workshop
We have moved our workshop called, "Creating a Culture of Generosity" to a new date, Monday, March 13. Brad Leeper will share ideas on how to get more volunteers, more offerings, and more willingness of church members to give what they can for God's glory. This training event will be held in Glendale at our PCN church, Evangelical Armenian Brethren Church. More info
