CBGlobal
This past month I had the privilege to meet with other CB leaders from several Asian countries in Bangladesh. Many of these church leaders came from church plants of missionary efforts years ago, especially from our sister organization, WorldVenture, which, like us, has Conservative Baptist roots. It was exciting to hear about new church plants in Bangladesh (6) and Myanmar (6), and the help that our CBGlobal churches from Hong Kong (14 churches) and Taiwan (16) have given to these growing national churches. Japan has close to 70 churches, Indonesia has 250 and the Philippines over 600 CB churches! There is currently a need to assist churches in Myanmar and Bangladesh because of severe flooding. If you would like to donate, please give here. CBGlobal exists to help other CB national church organizations in leadership development and disaster relief. We are excited to partner with these CBGlobal organizations throughout Asia as we see God's church growing throughout this part of the world.

Have a great Thanksgiving month. God is moving throughout the world as well as here in our network. Thanks for partnering with us to reach the world for Christ.

This Saturday, Set Your Clocks Back
This Sunday is the END of our Daylight Savings time. Don't forget to rewind your clocks 1 hour on Saturday unless you want to arrive when the worship team practices. Did you know that China and India have one time zone! Arizona doesn't change their clocks. And in 2005, the Energy Policy Act amended the Uniform Time Act of 1966 by changing the start and end dates of daylight saving time in America. So, beginning in 2007, clocks were set ahead one hour on the second Sunday of March (March 11, 2007) instead of on the first Sunday of April (April 1, 2007). Clocks were set back one hour on the first Sunday in November (November 4, 2007), rather than on the last Sunday of October (October 28, 2007). Just remember to set your clocks back on Halloween.

Pastor and Wife Getaway
Pacific Church Network will host a free getaway for all member church lead pastoral couples in Laguna Beach on November 8. We appreciate all the hard work each pastor and his wife invest into their respective churches, and this is one of the ways we can say thanks to our pastors every year. Forty pastors have signed up. For those who who are supporting Pacific Church Network, thanks for helping us make this possible through your generous financial gifts.

A Christian Response to Homosexuality
TUESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2016, LONG BEACH
This event is free for staff and leaders from Pacific Church Network, Transformation Ministries and ACTS 29 member churches and includes lunch. $49 for non-members. Please be sure to register. Homosexuality is one of the most relevant issues of our day. How should Christians respond to homosexuality and more importantly those in the LGBT community? Without any compromise of truth or grace, Dr. Christopher Yuan combines his life experiences with his training in the Bible in its original languages to bring a fresh and unique perspective on this sensitive issue. We are also privileged to have Dr. Yuan's parents speaking at the training.

Seven Baptisms in Burbank
Pastor Mike Brown from Cross of Christ Church in Burbank recently baptized 7 people in their church. Before coming to Burbank, Mike had baptized people in pools and jacuzzi's. This was their first baptism in their church, formerly called Valley Baptist, since their relaunch. Cross of Christ has grown to over 160 people! They also have just completed the remodeling of the interior of their sanctuary and foyer. It looks great.

Montebello Baptisms
Pastor Paul Taylor recently had 9 people get baptized at his church. Pastor Paul has been at Montebello Christian Fellowship for five years and has seen a growing number of people come to accept Christ through the ministry of their church. Their average attendance has increased and they are seeing more young families attend. Since 1970, Montebello Christian Fellowship also runs the K-8 Montebello Christian School.
90th Anniversary Celebration
On Saturday, October 24, over 200 people gathered at the Pearl banquet hall in Sun City to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Evangelical Brethren Church in Glendale. Special letters from Governor Brown and the Mayor of Glendale were presented, along with special music, words of encouragement and fantastic food. AEBC started in 1925, and their current Pastor, Dikran Shanlian, has been there for 33 years as the 8th pastor in their history.

Journey of Faith's New Pastor
Journey of Faith in Manhattan Beach voted to call Jason Cusick as their new lead pastor. Jason and his wife Marie, who have three children, have been attending Journey of Faith since 1998. In 2004, Jason was asked to join the staff as pastor of care ministries and later as pastor of adult discipleship. In January 2014, their Senior Pastor Glen Martin retired. The elders asked Jason to assist Journey of Faith by overseeing the preaching ministry, lead pastoral staff meetings, and serve on an Executive Leadership Team for the church. After an extensive search, the pastoral search team realized that Jason was their best candidate and presented him to the church who overwhelmingly voted to have him as their new lead pastor. Congratulations to Jason!

Pacific Church Network Annual Meeting
Plan now to attend our 2016 Annual meeting on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Redemption Hill Church in Whittier from 3:45 pm to 8:30 pm. This is a great chance to network with other member churches, get some great ideas for your church and to meet our 2016 new church planters. Attend great workshops in the late afternoon session, enjoy the free dinner and participate in our main session featuring Pastor Robert Bishop.

Man Camp
On October 2-4, 159 men attended Man Camp, featuring 11 speakers with 11 topics concerning one theme...Priorities. Many men committed to keeping their priorities straight this coming year and at least 4 men accepted Christ as their savior. Israel Gomez did a great job keeping everything running as our Master of Ceremonies and Jesse Mendez and his band led the men in praising the Lord with their singing. Enthusiastic, positive comments were expressed about the new format: "Keep the same format, excellent short messages," "more concentrated material, with multiple styles, it kept it fresh," and "our men appreciated the different approaches and styles of teaching."  Pine Summit again provided excellent meals and facilities.

Spanish Men's Retreat
On October 23-25, 135 men drove up to Big Bear Lake into the rugged San Bernardino mountains and enjoyed the beauty of Pine Summit Camp all by themselves. They were the only rental group up there. Juan Carlos "Rabito" Fernández was the featured speaker for the weekend. On Saturday evening, many men came forward to commit to sincerity in their walk with the Lord and in their relationships with family and the people around them. Sincerity was the theme of the weekend and it really touched many. Soccer, of course, was a big event on Saturday afternoon, and congratulations to the winners, El Camino San Clemente! Thanks to Emilio Núñez and his team for putting this all together.

Church Plant Now Has Two Services
Our Pacific Church Network church plant in Fountain Valley called Citylights Church decided to try the move to two services awhile back and the response was so great they continue to hold two services. They now have close to 200 people attending every Sunday. CityLights meets at the Community Center in Mile Square Park. Pastor Thien Doan started the church in 2011 near "Little Saigon" to primarily serve the communities of Garden Grove, Westminster, and Fountain Valley. The Lord keeps bringing new people to their church.

Free Resource Call
Cornerstone Pastors Network is offering a free Pastors Resource Call next month (November 19th at 10:00 PST) with Steve Macchia, President of Leadership Transformations, Inc. Steve recently has written a book entitled, Broken and Whole. He writes, "I've experienced great success and embarrassing failure. I've considered myself effective, and I've watched myself implode. I've brought others a lot of joy, and I've dished out my share of disappointment. In essence, as much as I like to view myself as a good or very good leader, in fact I'm more truthfully a blessed and broken leader-one who is daily in need of being renewed by the Spirit of God who resides in me." Steve will be talking about the path leaders need to take for spiritual transformation. If interested, please register here.

Reading a book
reading-dreads-boy.jpg
Although fears of America becoming a post-literate culture may be overstated, they are not completely unfounded. A majority of the general population reads five books or less every year (67%). Broken down a little more, one-quarter of all adults don't read any books at all (25%), while two out of five read anywhere between one and five books a year (42%). One-third of adults read five or more books a year (34%). Among the generations, Elders are the true bookworms-with about one-quarter reading more than 15 books a year (23%). Gen-Xers read the least; the highest proportion-one-third (32%)-reports reading zero books at all.  more facts
