Didn't Know That
There are lots of things I don't know, tons of things, so I keep learning new stuff. There are times I am driving a rental car, and when pulling into a gas station, I don't know which side to pull up next to the pump. Well, someone recently pointed out that on the dashboard, by the gas gauge, there is a picture of a gas pump and an arrow pointing to the side that the gas tank is on! You probably knew that, but I didn't. Saves me a little time!

The Bible says, "Live in harmony with each other. Don't be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don't think you know it all!" Romans 12:16 (NLT) I appreciate learning new, practical things from other people. I didn't know that...thanks! Back when we were 16 years old, we might have thought we knew it all, but as we get older, we realize we know much less. The apostle Paul wrote about one of the greatest things I constantly want to learn about, but may never really know, "may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully." Ephesians 3:17-18 (NLT)

Keep learning.

What Really Happened on July 4?

We celebrate American Independence Day on the Fourth of July every year. We think of July 4, 1776, as a day that represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation. But July 4, 1776 wasn't the day that the Continental Congress decided to declare independence (they did that on July 2, 1776). It wasn't the day we started the American Revolution either (that had happened back in April 1775). And it wasn't the day Thomas Jefferson wrote the first draft of the Declaration of Independence (that was in June 1776). Or the date on which the Declaration was delivered to Great Britain (that didn't happen until November 1776). Or the date it was signed (that was August 2, 1776).   Find out what really happened.

Robert Bishop
New Church Name and Campus

Pastor Robert Bishop of Whittier Hills Baptist Church is pleased to announce that they have changed their name to Redemption Hill Church. They also are expanding beyond Whittier and starting their second off-site campus. Their next campus will be in La Habra beginning in August. Their campus pastor has been working toward this end since February, as a staff member at the main campus, and they have a part-time worship guy also in the mix. All ready, an eager group of 160 will launch out and seek to reach this area of our community. Their departure from their original campus also opens up opportunity for significant growth at the founding campus.
