Faith of Presidents
Read about the faith of Washington and Lincoln.
Faith mattered to them a great deal, and featured centrally in their concept of a thriving American nation. Their reverence for faith's vital role in the republic helps account for Washington and Lincoln's greatness.

New Life is Never Old
It seems I talk a lot about my family, and so hear I go again. I am now a grandpa for the 5th time. My third daughter, Ashley, gave birth to her third daughter, Nora, just last month! The delivery had its tense moments. The nurses and doctor got very serious when little Nora's heartbeat suddenly went to 40 beats a minute. She was suctioned out but blue in her face with the cord around her neck. The doctor worked quickly and the noise of a healthy cry filled the room and brought tears of joy to all. I read the drama via a text from my wife, and rejoiced from a distance when all was well. It reminded me again that new life, salvations, baptisms, and stories of how God brought believers to a saving knowledge of Jesus is never old, and should always be a moment to remember and celebrate. Take time to celebrate those moments. Make them a big deal. The angels do. "There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Luke 15:10

Momentum Building at PCN Annual Meeting
|
"One of the best I've been to," said one attendee of the 60th Annual Meeting of Pacific Church Network, formerly called CB Southern California. Videos, workshops and testimonies from church leaders, pastors and church planters gave all who came some inspiration and encouragement for their ministries. During the evening session, all six pastors of our recently planted churches were recognized. Pastors new to their respective churches in 2013 were also introduced, along with Pastor Chad Vegas, whose church, Sovereign Grace in Bakersfield, joined the network in 2013. Chaplaincy Director Al Russell gave an inspiring report of how God is using our CB Chaplains all around the wold, and newly elected board members Rick Koole and Robert Bishop were introduced. Thanks to the Cutler Insurance Group for paying for everyone's meal, and to Pastor Thien Doan from Citylights Church who brought down the house with a memorable evening message on the "Plan of Jonah." For those who were there, they were treated to a great message that will be long remembered. Thanks again to Lead Pastor Jon Olson and his staff from Bethany, Long Beach for hosting this meeting and to all who came.

25 Years at Sunrise
|
On Sunday evening, January 19, Sunrise Church honored their lead pastor, Jay Pankratz, for his 25 years of leadership at Sunrise Church. When Jay and his wife, Carlotta, came to California in 1988, Sunrise was a church of 400 which was called Rialto Community Baptist Church. Twenty-five years later, they have a new campus in Rialto with more than 5,000 people regularly worshipping God there every weekend. They also have added five additional campuses throughout the Inland Empire, High Desert and mountain communities. Testimonies from many people whose lives have been touched in a positive way through the ministry of Jay and Carlotta were shown throughout the evening. Jay briefly shared, saying he is humbled that God has used him in his ministry at Sunrise. He quoted Psalm 127:1, "Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain." Congratulations to Jay.
