RECIPE OF THE MONTH -

ORGANIC PINEAPPLE EXPRESS

Ingredients:
1 sweet organic pineapple
12 filtered water ice cubes
Blender

Directions:

1. Peel and cut the pineapple. You will need very small pieces if you use a normal blender. If you have a VitaMix, go crazy.
2. Put the pineapple into the blender and blend that first.
3. Once that looks like a smoothie, add the 12 ice cubes and PULSE the blender until the ice is crushed to your liking (I prefer icy chunks)

Voila! You will have an icy, amazing pineapple drink.

HAPPY FOURTH
OF JULY!

Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain (now officially known as the United Kingdom).

Honoring this historic day in American history - sometimes we forget the true meaning of our holidays.

Please note that we will be closed on Friday AND Saturday July 4 and July 5 - more repair work to do!

DAYS OF MY YOUTH - MYRON KASHIMA

Many of the  plantation houses owned by the Japanese workers didn't have an inside bathroom. We had a separate bathhouse which contained a large wooden bathtub. This is a Japanese Furo - The Japanese style of bathing was to share the water from a large tub.  To keep the water clean, you wash and rinse the soap off outside of the tub. The water was heated by an open fire.

My summers were spent chopping firewood for the family furo.
My dad would cut one tree early in the year and let it dry so by the time summer came, it was my job to cut this HUGE tree into smaller firewood.

It was also my job to start the fire for the furo before my dad came home from work at 3:30.  On the days I was late, and I could see the smoke going, I knew my dad was already home and boy, was I in trouble!

Hope your job isn't cutting wood for the summer!- Myron
