DAYS OF MY YOUTH - Growing up on Kauai
Myron Kashima TECHNOLOGY!Wow! What a year 2012 has been - The elections, stock market gyrations, the economy, advances in medicine, etc.
One area that has blown my mind is in the area of personal electronics - games, iphones, tablets, leap pads... At this time last year, I would not have guessed that the proliferation of these devices would have continued and actually accelerate! They have invaded every corner of our lives.
I can remember a simpler time when the only entertainment device was either the radio or TV. Growing up in the plantation camp, most homes did not have a TV so we used to go to our aunt's house to watch their TV. We'd all sit around the large TV set and watch the latest programs together as a family - shows like Gunsmoke, Davy Crockett, Red Skelton, all in black and white. Remember?
Auwe! How much technology has progressed in such a short period of time - and how much as a society we have REGRESSED at the same time!
Happy New Year! - Myron

HAIKU FARMS MINUTE (Monthly update on the rebirth of our family farm on Kauai)
Hi.... No good news this month. It has been very windy and rainy. I remember dad telling me that you do not work the soil when it is saturated. Too muddy. Nothing will grow. Yes, winter is here.
Happy New Year to all! More news next month. - Clarice
