Ten Facelifts
I was recently in Montezuma for Poweshiek Iowa Development's (POW I-80) Annual Meeting, and I must say the work that has been done on the Montezuma square as part of the Community Block Development Grant (CBDG) looks amazing!

It's a true testament to the work being done to grow our county, and I'm so excited that our own CBDG work is now underway in Grinnell. TEN downtown building facades will be redone this spring and summer as part of this process, with expectation of all of them being complete late this summer.

The buildings that will have facade work done include:
  • 815 & 817 4th Avenue - seeking tenants
  • 925 Broad Street, home of Genesis Development
  • 917 Broad Street, home to Saint's Rest & Bikes to You
  • 837 Broad Street, Vision's Hair & Body Spa
  • 835 Broad Street, Loucks/Buren Orthodontists
  • 831 Broad Street, home of The Music Shop
  • 829 Broad Street, home of Solera
  • 824 4th Avenue, Ruchotzke & Ruchotzke, LLP
  • 819 Broad Street, home to The Fix
Here is an example of 819 Broad Street being worked on earlier today:

And here's the plan for it:

We're very excited to watch the progress of all of these buildings this summer!

As we continue to have conversations about attracting business to our community, these updates to buildings are a great selling point for downtown and Grinnell. It is so important to make sure we have a vibrant downtown as it truly is a focal point of our community. They want to know we have an active and dynamic heart of our community, and this exciting work is a sign of good things to come.

Your Grinnell Area Chamber of Commerce continues to work actively, alongside many community partners, on many projects to ensure our growth as a community and a region.
